We have a treaty to defend Israel. We don't have to go to war if Israel attacks but if Iran attacked first? We would be sucked in faster than a small space ship that went far too close to a super massive black hole. Or better yet swallowed faster than an earthworm dropped in a tank full of hungry catfish! That's the ticket! And Barry could say nothing if Iran attacked other than 'because of a treaty we have with Israel we are at war with Iran thanks to them attacking Israel!' So what?
