What age do we develop our perceptions, or preferences?
How are our perceptions influenced throughout life?

I had a shaved head all through out my primary and secondary school level...and i still rocked it :)

see unlike our black friends in America,we down here do not have the luxury of visiting beauty shops each time you wish.....you have only three choices, shave it,braid or weave it(for those who can afford) or leave it nappy(and risk looking like those "poor African child" images that the western media potrays when they talk about Africa.

Just a question.
How does one clean braided or weaved hair.
Seriously, I haven't a clue.

Thank your for posting this. I have been looking for this for a while now. The questions the kids are asked are appalling.

I will say one thing, when I was going to college and we had about 6 african american women in our class...they came off with this attitude. When we would all be sitting outside, this one would always say something like, you white bytches can not take my man away from me. Of course I am a mouth and no one else would say anthing except me..I would always say...bring him here and I promise you he will be dating me tomorrow. I just said it because she did this neck thing with the finger...she hated me right off and she was not my favorite person either.
All the other girls would just start laughing and that would make her even madder...I would just start smiling and walk away. I would just say stop with the attitude, you don't have to worry about all the white women wanting your men!!!!
I have seen so many beautiful black women, they just need to realize that they are beautiful but like anyone...they can be replaced!!!

Hahaha...I haven't seen that movie either, but I love Chris Rock. Mind you...there isn't a black comedian that I can think of that I don't like. Their ability to poke fun at their own culture is hilarious, and therein lies another reason to admire the black culture.

There are both positves and negatives to every culture I suppose, whether they be Black, White, Asiatic or whatever. But I would imagine that it comes down to what one "chooses" to focus on that makes the difference in the attitude toward said culture *shrugs*

Uh, there is a difference between race and culture.

A white person born and raised in the central USA is going to be culturally different from a white person born and raised in the Ukraine.

Likewise, a black person born and raised in the central USA is going to be culturally different from a black person born and raised in Southern Sudan.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I said attitude toward said cultures in there somewhere, but you're entitled to misconstrue what I say

Perhaps you should open your own beauty shop and call it Kaytoure's Secret.

Meanwhile, during my high school class reunion later this year, I'm hoping that some of my brown-skinned female classmates are single. I happen to like brown sugar. bigsmile

Here is a photo of the front of my high school taken before schools in the USA were desegregated.

I'd like to remind anyone looking for a specific ethnicity to date or even hair or eye color or religion, you can do an advanced search for that.

Poking fun at their own is one thing. Not a good thing but a thing. He demeans other races, as well.
Why would a Caucasian poking fun at/demeaning other races have Sharpton and many screaming racist? Kinda' hypocritical, IMO.
People have strange idols they adore.

I am.

I'm looking for an orange, 3' tall gal with gigantic hooters, a tiny coochie and a flat head to set my beer on.
