Do not uninstall IE unless you know how to totally get rid of it. You can not install IE 9. It will not run on XP. That add-on thing is annoying.

TRY: In Internet Explorer, click the Tools button, click Manage Add-ons, and then click Enable or Disable Add-ons

Windows Update doesnt work without I.E...

so why would I do that??

The whole point is to try to get my computer to STOP saying, when I use the I.E. browser, that its running with no add ons,

because as long, as its running that way,

it wont do Windows Update,

OR

Install Active X (if that needs to be done),

because on the bar, that would normally come up, and ask for permission to install Active X,

all the bar says, is no add ons, and doesnt give me the option to install Active X.

did you not read the article?

Since Windows Update requires the use of Internet Explorer, manual updates will no longer be possible. Automatic updates, if enabled, should continue unaffected.

Yeah, but there are manual updates, that Automatic updates DOESNT DO, especially hardware ones,

so I like to be able to do manual updates also.

This is what I get...

Install the ActiveX control required to view the website
The website will not display correctly on your computer without this control. To install it:
1. Right-click the Internet Explorer Information Bar. It's located just below the address bar.
2. In the right-click menu, click Install ActiveX Control.
3. In the Security Warning dialog box, click Install.

And when I click the bar all I get is..

Manage add ons

Information Bar Help

NO option to install Active X.

Did you start it from the run box like before? Or does it still state it's running with no add-ons?

First, never update windows. Very wrong thing to do. The security is non existent. Its like a rubber band stretched u stretch to cover some holes and leave others exposed. I never update mine and its better. Plus u must turn firewall off plus many other things off. Heck even tech depot and geek squad does this. Any sane tech guy would and should
