I've finally been ready since 2005 or so. I stay ready because I think it will "surprise" us when it happens. That's all I got. Have no shame when you go before the throne of God to be judged.

You are right, hell is not eternal. But you are wrong to assume it is simply a holding place for satan. satan is the god of this world and although hell is his domain he walks about on this earth along with countless demons seeking who they may devour and inspiring wicked men to evil schemes and deceiving those who do not have a love for the truth.

The only time satan will be incarcerated is when he spends a thousand years in the pit before he is let out at the end of the millennium.

However the lake of fire which will be worse than hell will burn forever and ever. Hell for the time being is operated by the devil and his hordes. The Lake of fire will be God's direct wrath poured out in full.

And people are thrown into it and it is eternal torment.

Rev 20:10

The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.

The false prophet is a man who supported the anti-christ/beast who is also a man and they are in the fire with the devil to be tormented forever.

Rev 20:14-15

Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

Everyone not found in the Book of Life will be in the fire, which as we saw above is where the torment is forever.

All the more reason to be READY FOR HIS COMING, whether it be at the end of the age or when He comes for us at our appointed time to die.
