I so love this song. It is entitled "One step at a time" by Psalty the Singing book. I love this since I was a kid...
Here's the lyrics: Whenever it seems too hard to handle Too big to conquer, too far away to touch... When all your dreams begin to shatter, And deep inside you, it's hurtin' oh so much... So when it's time to say, I'm climbing my mountain, step by step, I'm climbing my mountain, day by day, I'm climbing my mountain, all the way, I'm climbing my mountain, I'm gonna make it, One Step at a time,(2x) With Jesus by my side... One step at a time (2x) I'm climbing my mountain, one step at a time... Even though, you might grow weary, Don't be discouraged, in our weakness, God is strong, Remember this, He'll never leave you, He won't forsake you, He's your strength and He's your song... I dedicate this song to all those who are suffering great difficulties in their lives right now. Please don't get discouraged, instead, have faith, and take things one step at a time with Jesus by your side. |

My Father asked me to title this poem.... Leonardo....it must be for someone out there. Conceived in darkness, birthed in hell. I saw your light. When you sang your song, I sang with you. When you danced, I danced with you. You dreamed of flying.

I took you by My right hand and we laughed our delight. I heard them curse your song. I watched them push away your dance. I watched as they wiped away the light from your eyes. You did not know it then, but I had named you mine.

July 14th was the anniversary of the birth of Woody Guthrie, so here is one of his songs
Jesus Christ Jesus Christ was a man who traveled through the land A hard-working man and brave He said to the rich, "Give your money to the poor," But they laid Jesus Christ in His grave Chorus: Jesus was a man, a carpenter by hand His followers true and brave One dirty little coward called Judas Iscariot Has laid Jesus Christ in His Grave Chorus He went to the preacher, He went to the sheriff He told them all the same "Sell all of your jewelry and give it to the poor," And they laid Jesus Christ in His grave. Chorus When Jesus come to town, all the working folks around Believed what he did say But the bankers and the preachers, they nailed Him on the cross, And they laid Jesus Christ in his grave. Chorus And the people held their breath when they heard about his death Everybody wondered why It was the big landlord and the soldiers that they hired To nail Jesus Christ in the sky Chorus This song was written in New York City Of rich man, preacher, and slave If Jesus was to preach what He preached in Galilee, They would lay poor Jesus in His grave. |

It's more of a story than poetry but thought I would share it anyway.
The Cross Room The young man was at the end of his rope. Seeing no way out,he dropped to his knees in prayer. "Lord,I can't go on" he said. "I have too heavy a cross to bear" The Lord replied, "My son,if you can't bear it's weight, just place your cross inside this room. Then, open that other door, and pick out any cross you wish," The man was filled with relief, "Thank- you Lord," he sighed, and he did as he was told. Upon entering the other door, he saw many crosses, some so large the tops were not visible. Then he spotted a tiny cross leaning against a far wall. "I'd like that one, Lord" he whispered, And the Lord replied, "My son, that is the cross you just brought in." Author unknown |

A Morning Prayer
Dear Lord, so far today I've done alright, I haven't gossiped, I haven't lost my temper, haven't been greedy, grumpy, nasty, selfish nor over-indulgent.And I'm very thankful for you for that. But...in a few minutes,Lord,I'm probably going to need a lot more of your help because I'm going to get out of bed!!!!! |

Here is a poem I wrote a little while back...
Shoreline Of Life A gentle breeze teases the thoughts of my mind. My soul singed by a softly spoken lullaby of life. Stillness..... Foreboding kiss of desire breaths upon my heart. A looking glass, kindles captive subtle fringed memories. A path of righteousness, for one not so righteous. Rage...... Even when I didn't love myself. Still being carried by pierced hands of patience, and compassion. Understanding...... I looked back on my life, and upon so many bloody footprints in the sand. I began to cry, for only then did I notice the eyes of my savior Jesus. Were filled with so many loving tears..... I was going home..... . |
