Moulon Rouge.

I hate musicals. But once in a while someone makes something real happen. A lot of Musical talent was used and likewise a lot of tributes to past masters were uniquely and in an odd twist of anachronism managed to tell a very tragic love story wrapped up in steamy decadence and the dark underbelly of entertainment. And it did have a point, Life is about learning to love and be loved in return. The visuals were great and some here may have bad things to say but I would burn Oklahoma if I could. I mean I HATE musicals but again Moulon Rouge was just a cut above and not mediocre by any means.

The Bohemian Revolution is not dead!

For an experience, Avatar in 3D on an IMAX screen was awesome. The film itself was generic and overlong, but visually it was exhilarating. At the time the 3D films were rubbish, the SFX added after the film had been finished purely for commercial reasons, but Avatar had the 3D in mind and they blended seamlessly with everything else on screen.

Also, 2001:A Space Odyssey, purely for being a "What-the-****-is-Going-On" movie which I really enjoyed!

Valerie And Her Week Of Wonders '70. Haunting and surreal coming of age vampire fairy tale.

The Spirit of the Beehive '73. In 1940's Spain, two girls set out to find the real monster after viewing James Whale's Frankenstein. In my top 10.

Black Moon '75. In the future there's a Civil War between men and women. A small girl wants to escape reality and meets up with a unicorn living with an odd family. Though really it's a hard film to describe.

House '77. Pure visual eye candy. Horror/fantasy/comedy about a group of Japanese school girls staying at a haunted house.

There are two that come to mind,

1. The Goonies, as it was one of the few times I saw ny dad and we had a fantastic day together...

2. Alien - Hiding with my school mates behind a couch.. we had it on pirate video back in early 80's... shades

Memorable movie theater experience- Seeing Star Wars on the big screen at 7, and that's what it was STAR WARS not A New Hope.

Getting to see Dr Strangelove, and Faster Pussycat Kill! Kill! at the theater.

Going to a midnight showing of Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers and Chopper Chicks In Zombie Town.

Going to the theater as a kid with friends and seeing films like Good Guys Wear Black(back when Chuck Norris still made good movies), and the exploitation flicks- Albino(with Christopher Lee), and The Exterminator.

Going with a group of friends to an indie Seattle theater and seeing Peter Jackson's raunchy puppet flick Meet The Feebles.

THE MATRIX (1999)- There are only a few movies that change the way movies are made. The Matrix is the last such film that did this. You watch action films to this day and you see influence from The Matrix. I even fell that it led the way for movie makers to want to try a better version of 3D. In fact, The Matrix needs to be done in 3D, especially seeing as how Titanic got the 3D treatment (which I still do not understand). Anyways, I saw this film when it came out and it just blew me away. It actually took the world by storm. Geeks everywhere were talking about it. Lol.

THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT (1998)- I hate this movie. And that is the very reason why it is rememorable. I bought into all the hype about it. "You have got to see it man", I was told constantly. So, I went. And when it was all over, I just sat there in disgust. I wasn't the only one either. One dude sitting in front of me turned around and saw my look of displeasure. His response? "I would rather watch a Streisand movie that sit through this crap again". I hear ya man. I hear ya!

It's James Cameron, he wanted to see his inflated ego in 3D.
