President Obama said today he will keep pushing his $447 billion jobs bill, despite the objections of Senate Republicans who blocked the proposal last night.

"We will not take no for an answer," Obama told the American Latino Heritage Forum. "We will keep organizing, we will keep pressuring, and we will keep voting."

He said Senate Democrats will keep reintroducing the bill piece by piece. He accused the GOP of opposing tax breaks for employers who create jobs and infrastructure projects to repair crumbling roads and bridges.

"This jobs bill will help the Latino community right now," Obama told the supportive crowd. "And it will help the larger American community right now."

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., and other Republicans said the Obama jobs bill is another stimulus plan that won't work, financed by tax hikes that will kill jobs.

"Democrats' sole proposal is to keep doing what hasn't worked, along with a massive tax hike that we know won't create jobs," McConnell said. "Why on earth would you support an approach that we already know won't work?"

McConnell's office pointed out that two Democrats -- Ben Nelson of Nebraska and Jon Tester of Montana -- voted with the Republicans last night and that other members of the Democratic caucus have criticized parts of Obama's jobs bill.

The Senate vote last night was procedural. McConnell said he is willing to have a straight up-or-down vote on the Obama plan, predicting that enough Democrats would vote against it to defeat it.

Obama brought his message to members of the nation's fastest-growing ethnic group and voting population. The president said there are 54 million Americans of Latino descent, about one-sixth of the population.

Alexandra Franceschi, a spokesman for the Republican Party, said that although the national unemployment rate is 9.1%, the jobless rate for Hispanics is 11.3%. The GOP spokesman blamed Obama's "failed economic policies."

"President Obama seems determined to pander to Hispanics, while ignoring the need to put Americans back to work," he said.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama is urging Congress to act on a number of bills he says will accelerate the economy. He says the nation has responsibilities that are "bigger than an election."

In his weekly radio and Internet address, Obama says Congress could pass bills to help states prevent more layoffs, put construction workers on the job and help small business owners hire workers. It follows the May jobs report, which showed the nation added only 69,000 jobs. Unemployment increased to 8.2 percent.

Duh?
Where has he been the last 31/2 years? what

Republican Sen. John Cornyn of Texas says Democrats are promoting "gimmicks" and unless Congress and Obama act, Americans will deal with a tax increase of nearly $500 billion. He says the tax hike could push the nation back into recession and urged Obama to support tax reform.

We also know the Republican plan doesn't work so why would we want to go back to that? Cut the rich taxes and they create jobs, not likely except in China. There are always stupidos who believe that Republican bs too.

Obozo won't take "NO" for an answer on anything he wants!

Instead, he bypasses congress, the courts, the people, and just signs executive orders.

NOT very presidential, fair, reasonable, logical, and most of all PATRIOTIC AMERICAN in my book

Past presidents have faced similar situations and still managed to get things passed by congress. I think it's called bi-partisanship.
Obama has done nothing in this regard except, blame the other side.
It is his failure and his alone.

His jobs plan, when you take the fancy dancing and word play out of it, would be just another Obozocare, debt creating, job and small business killing plan. Another strike to the middle class and the mom and pop businesses already suffering under his administrations regulations.

Soon there will be NO "full time" jobs, as like now, employers hire more part time (yes the number of employed increases for the records) employees with fewer benefits and less tax burdens.

It's just another numbers game that only helps the crony capitalist friends on wall street, NOT small business, vets or the everyday man/woman!

Well I disagree. Not saying that Obama's jobs ideas are anything
groundbreaking or exceptional but there is nothing seriously
wrong with them either. It is just a stupid game of brinksmanship
with Republicans trying to blame Obama and vice versa while everyone
else suffers.

RP has the worst ideas of all - gonna shut down large swaths of the
economy, lay off hundreds of thousands and cut taxes to the rich.

So yeah. These idiots just have to put the needs of their constituents
first or they are all gonna get tossed out.

What a bunch of blathering dingdongs!
