How do tarot cards work?

Card drawn:

1. Five of wands.

According to the five of wands I would interpret it to mean two things.

First, The use of your imagination is a powerful contributing factor. Imagination will win over the mind or will every time.

The man on the white horse is in a struggle with the man on the black horse. These riders represent your little self (man on black horse) struggling with your higher self (your spiritual side, man on white horse.)

If your spiritual side wins this struggle, you will understand the symbols laid out before you and do a great reading. But if you allow the man on the black horse to win, your reading will be coming from your mind and your ego and it will not be a good one.

The ego, or little self is ultimately in control and must recognize and step aside for the higher self in order for both to win. The higher self seldom wins by force but usually when the ego steps aside and bows to the wisdom of the higher self.

So when you do this, you will find reading the cards to be effortless as your imagination goes to work expressing the energy of the cards.

The first card in the three above came up reversed. It represents going back to school or learning something that will help you in the material world. Being reversed, it means you are not doing what you planned to do or you could be procrastinating.

The second card is a situation in which you feel stifled or trapped. But you are the only person who stands in your own way. Perhaps fear prevents you from doing what you need and want or dream of doing.

The third card is about family, security and business. The advice or energy of this card advises you to look for long term solutions. It is about thought concerning what you may be leaving for your family, or about what inheritance, if any is coming to you.

The over all energy and advice would be to think about taking action towards your goal or desire, especially if you have been procrastinating or playing the waiting game. You need to ask for what you want and then intend to take action, any action towards that goal even if it is small.

Just to let everyone know how good you are: I am going to college, and I am not doing what I planned to do, which was to buy a house and move last year. After Rick's death that all changed.

I do feel stiffled and trapped because I am stuck here renting in a town with just about the worst economy in the U.S.A.

And the last card is also correct. I just had a talk with my kids about what I want them to have as a memory of me after I die, and my final wishes. I never want my kids to go through not knowing what to do.

I am scared. I know it keeps me from feeling confident about my skills in my career, and I hate asking for what I want because I always ask and end up doing it myself, so it just takes longer.
