Hi Everyone,
As you know I took my road trip to Ennis County in Texas. I had extreme culture shock. I know not all of Texas is that way. Most of my friends on here are from Houston or Dallas Fort Worth and are very normal and modern thinking. I never faced such things as I did there. There was a lot of discrimination going both ways. I was told to keep with my own kind. I said I would but I hadn't met any dweebs, dorks, geeks and nerds. I saw a neighbor accidentally set fire to himself. He was a dim wit. He poured gasoline on some grass and stood down wind. I came running in the house saying we needed to call 911. I was told MYOB. Our new neighbors were not white but were born and raised here in America and acted like everyone else. I was the only one to score an invite to their house warming. I was told I couldn't go because they threw their own house warming and that was wrong. Some other neighbors had a fiesta. THE SECOND that their music played past curfew all the neighbors chain called each other to complain to the police. One of the neighbor's sons bad mouthed me saying I was a loud mouth. WHICH I AM. My fiancee went down the street to defend my honor type thing. The boy's father was going to beat him that night for saying that. I never got to see the good parts of Texas. I wanted to go to the Kennedy Museum. I was told there was an awesome aquarium. I was told they had awesome thrift shops (my fav) in Dallas, etc. I never got to go. My friends, Robert and Karena, live there. I never got to go there. Robert wanted to meet us at a place that had some of the best Tex Mex in the state I never got to go. I saw Walmart, Walmart and more Walmart and the Dollar General. I don't care if I ever see Walmart again. I bought California Pizza Kitchen pizzas and got a lecture on how cows and pigs were put on this earth to be killed and put on pizza. I screwed up and bought Chipotle (sp) and BBQ chicken. I was told by a good friend to stick to the coasts from now on. My friends from Texas are very normal. I just want to say that. The tid bit of Texas I saw was not a reflection of my actual friends. I am told other parts of the country are still this way. Does anybody else live somewhere like this? How do you cope? It was not even safe for me to go to the convenience store alone. I go to 7-11 here in So Cal at midnight and it's safe. One of the neighbors had very nice boxers who escaped a lot (dogs not underwear). Everyone feared them but they were harmless. There were mean dogs in the neighborhood but nobody feared them. The other neighbors had a basset hound and I learned his name was Hank and I just had to talk to him and call him by name and he shut up. Racial tension was extremely high. I grew up in a ghetto in LA for the first 8 years of my life. I knew people of all shapes, sizes, colors, religions, etc. so this is all very foreign to me. I know this is a long post but I never faced such things. I am so bummed I did not see Dallas. I hear there is so many awesome things there. |

Hey, I just simplify my prejudice and racism by hating everyone I don't like! |
