you are always near to me.

Near to me in spirit and through love,

and the stars and moon
and everything in between.

as your shield,

as your comfort.

I once drew your name in the sand
but the tide washed it away,
I once saw your name in the stars
but it was a game that my eyes had played,
but your name was once engraved in my heart
and there it will forever stay.

I thought love was lost,
an illusion, fake, and hard to find,
but that all changed when I met you
cause I began to see that love is real
and it does exists in me.

I now know what my heart has been longing for,
I now know why it was aching
and I now know why it sings.

The broken road of this thing called life
led me to someone and not something,
and so now I realize that
