Police Beat White Homeless Man To Death, Media Ignores

At a preliminary trial hearing, a video of Fullerton, California police officers beating a homeless man to death was shown yesterday. The court audience reacted with shock and horror to the tape, which shows Officer Manuel Ramos giving orders to the schizophrenic Kelly Thomas, who complies for a few minutes before standing up and apparently resisting arrest. Four officers then proceed to beat Thomas to the ground, then taser him several times.

This story breaks my heart.

Now watch, not a single white person will riot over this.

That is sad. I do have respect for the police as more than once they have come to my aid. A few bad apples don't represent all police officers.

That story was huge once it broke here in California. But, I don't believe the national media ever picked it up. Which is amazing to me since it is such a horrific story. I'm sure it would have gotten more attention if the victim was black.

You should have seen ALL the people blocking the police station, and protesting in downtown Fullerton. All cultures were there and supportive. A lot of pressure on Fullerton PD. This ran in many of the local papers and media outlets.

I agree. I think most are probably decent. BUt still many are suffering God complexes from the power they have been given and are as or more dangerous than the 'criminals' they pursue.

I need MsHarmony to tell the police in Toledo how they are supposed to act. My next door neighbor is a black, male, teen drug dealer, who is wanted for shooting at a passing car, he walks around with a hoodie on and still does drug deals from his grandmas house and I can't get the police to arrest him, much less shoot him.

Agreed and those are the type that should be thrown off the force.

'Thank God he was white.'

ask treyvons parents...

its a side effect of the stereotype of the dangerous black male, many americans, Including black people themselves AND cops, feel a higher threat from a black male than other males, so they are less likely to risk hand to hand, when they can just as easily shoot them,,,

it is also a demographic reality that non minorities see police more often as there to serve and protect rathern than to harm and obstruct and they are more likely to excuse police actions as necessary and warranted,,,

so its harder to beat a black man without a response from an already suspicious black community,, but shooting him leaves no other version of the story but the cop who will usually be given the credit for their honesty and integrity (ESPECIALLY IF ANY type of offense can be found on that black person)

its a sad reality of our culture, and a result of years and years of cultural stereotypes and systemic racism

,,,but I am once again pointing to the elephant in the room that IM sure noone else wants to see,,,

sorry

ANY person that is killed unnecessarily is a tragedy, whomever their killer is and whatever race they belong to
