5. X-Men: First Class- I think many people didn't give this movie the chance it deserved. In ways, it reminds me of how people treated Batman Begins. The Batman franchise was almost killed by Joel Schumacher and Brett Ratner almost killed the X-Men franchise. Thank God Matthew Vaughn came along. This film was made with the idea that the story would continue (which it will) and it has set up a sequel so beautifully. Fassbender as Magneto and McAvoy as Professor X were so spot on in their roles. And now that Jennifer Lawrence is gaining popularity with The Hunger Games, the sequel should be a sure fire hit. Still, this film is wonderfully done as it shows us how Xavier became a paraplegic, and why Magneto decided to go against him.

4. Spider Man 2- I wish to God Spider Man 3 did not exist. It's an abomination to the trilogy that Sam Raimi did. How you can do everything right in part 2 and then muck it all up in the third film is beyond me. Thankfully, we have the reboot to look forward to. Anyways, Raimi made an awesome sequel here with part 2. McQuire seemed to feel comfortable in the role, and Molina as Doc Oc will always be memorable. Not to mention they set up Harry Osbourne's transformation into the new Green Goblin so well (then totally killed it in the third film). Franco was on spot in this one. The fight scenes between Spidey and Doc Oc were the best of the series, and not just cause of the action. Molina and McQuire had great chemistry and it showed on screen. This was the best sequel to a comic book film until another movie came along. But more on that in a bit.

3. Batman Begins- The day Christopher Nolan took over the Batman franchise was the day I believed he would make comic book films relevant. And boy did he ever do that. Bale as Bruce Wayne was perfect casting, but to get actors such as Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Laim Neesom and Ken Watanabe in it too was/is priceless. Nolan also brought in David S. Goyer, who is a huge Batman comic book fan and knew the story and history of Batman (even in graphic novels). What the two of them produced has turned into a film series that will conclude this year with The Dark Knight Rises. A very successful series that also has produced two of the best films to come out of Hollywood within the last ten years.

2. Kick-***- I'm sure this will surprise many to see this on my list. But Kick-*** is something that we needed, and is a movie that Hollywood should pay attention to. It's raw, edgy, fun, exciting...and how can you not love a foul mouthed little girl kicking butt in the name of making the wrong things right? Basically, this movie took a chance on being so different from other comic book films. Then again, that's how the comic book is. So, the film pays the comic with much respect in being true. The film flows so well, the mini stories involved all mesh well with the main story...a young teenage boy wanting to fight crime. Wanting to be and do more to help his fellow man. Overall, it's a film that shines and introduced us to Chloe Moretz (trust me...she will be a star). And how can you not love Mark Strong. He simply can play a bad guy so well.

1. The Dark Knight- If ever a film can top this, then that film better when the Oscar for Best Motion Picture. TDK is in a league of its' own, and not only cause Heath Ledger gave us a legendary performance as The Joker. But also because Aaron Eckhardt turned in a great performance as Harvey Dent and the fact that the story, acting, and flow of the film were so damn good that you left the theater realizing you had seen greatness. What I love most about this movie is the ending. If you listen to what Jim Gordon says at the end sums up who/why Batman is who he is. Simply put, I don't feel there will be another film to match what this film accomplished. Well, maybe The Dark Knight Rises has a shot. But then, that would be Nolan simply making the statement that he is, without a doubt, the best director/storyteller in Hollywood.

I liked The Dark Knight far more than Batman Begins, I only watched The Dark Knight because of Ledger, Bales performance as Batman annoys me.

Chloe Moretz is good, liked her in Let Me In, and Hugo, but she's been around long before Kick ***, though that film did make her popular. I will say her signing on to play the title role in the upcoming remake of Stephen King's Carrie is very odd casting.

For real, I just have to throw Watchmen out there. Watchmen and The Dark Knight are the only two 'comic to movie' movies that really encapsulate the "impossible moral choice" scenario well.

I wish I had seen First Class and Kick-A$$ to properly judge this, but I definitely agree on Spider-Man 2 and Nolan's Batman films so far.

With the leftover spots, I'd probably have to place...

Captain America: The First Avenger: Aside from being highly entertaining, I feel like the film was very faithful to the source and fully embraced its comic book roots while simultaneously being actually well-written, providing proper characterization, and being fairly mature. It was fantastical, but well-handled. In days where there seems to be a demand for gritty, "realistic" takes, modernization and anti-heroes, the film stuck to the core of the character and comics and was not ashamed to do so.
Basically, it was a pretty pure superhero-adventure film. Chris Evans did well as Steve Rogers before and after receiving the serum, was fully like-able, and really distanced himself from the crap that was Fantastic Four. Plus, Hugo Weaving as the Red Skull? Win.

I'll give some thought to my second choice... Nothing's currently hitting me.

Hell Boy was a good comic book movie.

What about "A History of Violence" and "Road to Perdition"?

My top 5 would be:

The Dark Knight - Heath Ledger at his very best IMO

Iron Man 1 - liked this better than 2 despite Terrence Howard being a bit of a dick.

Sin City - didn't know this was a comic book until after I watched the film.

Daredevil - not a fan of Ben Affleck but liked this and loved Dogma.

Priest - liked this for what it could have been, not for what it was and liked Paul Bettany since watching a Knight's Tale.

Captain America was very good. Actually, it really surprised me with how good it was. Have to say the ending was great too when Steve Rogers says "I had a date"! That is just pure gold to end the film with.

Hellboy and Hellboy 2 are both very good. The thing that kept them from my top 5 is that both films seemed to drag at times.

I'll say this about Priest. Man...that movie could have been very, very good. It felt rushed.

I loved that. I admit to starting to form some man-tears when Steve and Peggy were talking over the radio before, well... you know.

I’m kinda ambivalent about Capt America and Thor...they weren’t bad but I know I won’t be watching either of them again anytime soon if at all.

Many book stores carry volumes of the comic... My experience hasn't led to much that's cheap though.

For me...in no particular order...

V for Vendetta. Great book...Damned good flick.

"Conan the Barbarian"....I am suprized no one else mentioned it. Then again, I used to actually read the comics. I didn't even know that Robert E. Howard lived like 30 miles straight down the road from me till I was in my late 20's.

Acually, I like pretty much all of the comics to movies except for any of the SuperMan movies...Those comics were pretty damned lame even as a kid and the movies weren't any better.

Spider Man 3 just sucked.....panzy boyfriends in chick flicks don't cry and whine that much.

I didn't mention Conan because it's based on books, not comics. I had a subscription to Marvel's Conan Magazine back in the 80's.
