All the dogs are chipped, I need to get the horses done. I have no problems with it on some of the animals though not on, say a herd of cattle. I wouldn't have a problem chipping an older family member, especially with memory issues, alzheimers, etc.

My gogs are chipped.I got that free service with thair first vet visit. I am glad they are.If they ever got lost or stolen,I would have a better chance to find them.

All of my animals are chipped. It is a cheap and easy procedure. I hope that the chips will never be needed, but it is a good idea. The dogs are all tagged as well and that should be sufficient.

our dog was only chipped because it was mandated for him to fly internationally I am not one to equate animals with my children I may chip a dog if I lived someplace where he may get lost,,,,

Both of my cats are microchipped. If they get ankle bracelets for house arrest, then I will have an issue with the governing authorities of the neighbourhood. Cats are just born mischevious!!

A lot of people see microchipping as THE MARK OF THE BEAST in humans. I would like to see an ID card proving you are the parent of a child. My friend who is a red head and very fair had a child by a very dark and hairy guy. She looked nothing like her. They learned about stranger danger in school. Well, we would not let her go in Sanrio. So she screams "YOU'RE NOT MY MOMMY! YOU'RE A STRANGER!!" Everyone comes running. I said "GET OUT THE FAMILY PHOTOS IN YOUR WALLET AND PROVE YOU KNEW HER BEFORE THIS MOMENT!!" Thank god I thought fast because mothers, fathers, security, everybody came running. I do not believe in hitting children but I just got in the car as her mother spanked her butt in the parking lot and pretended I saw NOTHING.

Michigan has an active TB Zone. Cattle have rfid chip/tags. If TB is discovered in an animal, it allows tracking the infected animal back to the source very easily. It is a tool used to eradicate the disease.
