When we've been hurt in the past WE put ourselves and what we're looking for out of reach unknowingly...The person could be right in front of you but dont think THEY have a chance with YOU...

To the OP, I'm sorry I wish I could give you an answer as to why it's so hard. Sometimes you never get the "why" you just know that it is. flowerforyou

actually I think it's a little harder online. I think it makes it easier for people to be even pickier than in "real life" you see a photo, you skip. Say one thing on their profile you don't like, skip.

Too many people come on here looking for a miracle to happen. Why not just make some friends and have some fun and when the person happens to come along...it will be great. If that person doesn't come along soon.. you still have made a bunch of friends.

Or if you don't say something they are looking for even if itis s really something that would not be the whole game they can skip you.

Think there is an element of gal speak versus guy speak/

Gal says she likes the outdoors that might mean a nice brunch in an outdoor cafe with wine and her nails done or itguy speak might mean mudding out in the boonies and a twenty pound pack.

I am not sure where honesty really hinges on insecurity but if women get aquaninted on line they still are probably going to want to be a little self protective and meet in public place or at least know someone who might know the person they are considering. It is jot that most of us really believe we are going to meet a serial killer but it is just nice to rule out the people who are looking to sell something, are already in relationships, or are actually looking for something clear different than what they said on their profile.

Probably helo if everyone would be a little more realistic in what we expect. Most average single people have had a life that was not all roses,, most of us have to budget the expense of dating behind a lot of other priorities, time is limited, and how many people are really happy and confident and entertaining on the first date in the real world?

I've been doing the online dating thing for almost 4 years, never been on a date yet. I've been called a wierdo, a killer, and all sorts of things laugh But, I have learned alot about myself, and I feel I'm still learning, so who knows what I will be like in a few years time laugh

It is also easier, frankly, to be dishonest online. Some people use sites like these to become someone else, and escape reality. Like me, for instance. I'm really a 13 year old chimpanzee. bigsmile
