Well, what I usually do.... I will call up a family member, or friend and scream into the phone "Happy Birthday!" Them: "But, it's NOT my birthday!?!!" Pregnant pause. Me: "Oh. Then it must be mine!" Click. Sometimes they call back :-)

I made my daughter Ruth smile simply by talking to her. She lives in Colombia.

Met my son who lives in NYC at my Mom's(she lives halfway inbetween us). Surprised him with a large container of my homemade chicken salad to take home. The smile was priceless!
