Ok, so i'm at work today and I'm emailing back and forth with one of my clients about their order. He asks me what my last name is (which is already in my signiture on every email I send) Next thing I know, i come home to find he added me as a friend on facebook. Is that weird? I'm not sure whether or not to accept it... Listen to Krupa Pinky!! |

The only write up I have had at work was due to a facebook post, (off the clock)....but, maybe you can make it work. I just don't see how it could benefit you. Not sure if the "write up" at work affects your position in any way, but if it was made in private while you were off the clock, I don't believe that they can legally hold it against you in any way! You can find out for sure by contacting your local Labor Dep Nope....I demanded a copy to post next to my employee of the year awards.....they only wrote me up to shut that whining b!@itch up. Work apologized and it never went on my record....still...I learned, when it comes to FB and work....keep em seperated. |

Yeah.. I don't think I'm going to do it. I'm friends with two of the girls in my office that I work for.. but this is a whole 'nother cup of tea.. He's one of my clients, and I manage his account.

I think it is a little presumptuous depends on your corporate culture and company rules - I would not be happy about it and probably hide my FB unless I got to know him somehow otherwise you might want to see what your HR Dept says - as long as he is the one who initiated you might be fine but since he's a customer if things do not work out between u - he could cause u a lot of headaches at work |

You can find out for sure by contacting your local Labor Dept. I have friends at work on my FB list and some that are not. For this reason I have set my privacy so only my "Friends" can see my posts, and not "Friends of Friends". You have to remember the six degrees of separation rule. You have no idea who the Friends of Friends may be! Paul, with the new "ticker" thing on the side of Facebook even friends of friends can see what you write, if the mutual friend has commented. i.e. if I am friend's with you and Krupa but you and Krupa aren't, you can read the post after I comment on it no matter what the privacy setting is... I will have to check my privacy settings again. Going to send you a private message to test what you have said here. I think we have a mutual friend on FB, I know she has commented on posts of mine just not sure how long ago. |

It's just facebook. He may be able to bring you more clients. Shake that money maker..... there is some truth to this, but the best thing is to have a separate business FB - and just direct him to that site I used to have a business FB - it was a lot of fun |

Otherwise, it could be an opportunity to strengthen the business relationship and retain that client. |

I'm not sure whether or not to accept it... It depends on how you use Facebook. If you use it as a place to vent about things or share things you don't want some people to know, don't add him. However, you can add people and then exclude them from seeing certain posts. This is what I do. I have a whole group of "work" people. When I post something I don't want them to see I just exclude them from viewing it. I also have "extended family" and "Mingle" groups. |

I guess my thinking is that it was presumptuous because FB is CLOSE friends & family only to a lot of folks (me for example) I would not dream of getting into a business assoiciates FB unless I knew it was a business page |

I work for a place where everyone socializes a lot with each other. I have everyone I work with and for on my Facebook friends. Including the director of Human Resources and the Mayor.

If it ain't good enough...and they need more..... Then let them settle for less. |

A lot of people use Facebook and other social sites for business now a days. I use it for my business.

I don't use it to put money in my pocket, so no it hasn't. I use it for socializing. I know people who have made money from it. It just depends on the business and how you work it.

I definitely wouldn't accept his friend invite on facebook unless you use facebook professionally.
IMO, it's always a bad move to mix your professional life with your social. |
