Have you even fallen out of love with someone you were with for a long time? Is something like this possible for ones who loved someone so much they almost couldn't function? Is it crazy to still have them embedded in your memory...even during the day? Does it ever leave you?

No, when I love someone, I love them forever. I still love everyone I've ever told I love.

If I do so, I'll say it was not love & I'm not worth of loving someone or getting love of someone.

Yes, because there are different kinds of love. The man who was the biggest love of my life, who when he left me I felt like a knife was physically stabbing me in the gut, and when he came back 25 years later I almost fainted . . . I don't think I'll ever feel that way about him again. During our second time together I realized that I had grown up and yet he had not really changed, at least not in his ability to commit. I still love and admire him and regret we couldn't have made it together, but that's all. He'll never be the focus of my life again.

The feeling of passion can leave you, but if you had true love for them along with that, then that is what stays. Kind of like the difference between lust and deep liking. Sounds corny I suppose.

Hey beautiful.waving ...I think it is possible for love to die a slow death, possible for the one you love to kill your love for them over time, but just falling out of love?...No, if you truly love someone it is not possible to fall out of love.....It is like Totage says, when you love someone, you love them forever...The only thing that changes is the degree/intensity of the love....

Leigh! How are you? I missed you...

It'd be hard for me to completely stop loving someone despite them not being in my life. I guess I am hit with these feelings now because I still have my ex on my mind from time to time. He's there, its like he's with me when I don't expect it. Maybe its the strong connection we had when we were together. I could pin it on a number of things but I guess it was the bond we shared. And it wasn't just him, I felt this bond with my ex-fiance too. At times, with certain things I do throughout my day, he'll appear. He was a musician, a producing engineer actually. Whenever I go to the beach I am flooded with memories of him playing guitar near the shore. Closing my eyes and listening to him strumming something he just made up on the spot. Maybe this is normal. I don't find I completely stop loving someone after the goodbye. I suppose its me once again holding onto those memories, wishing they'd appear again.

I have loved 3 women in my life who didn't return it. They are still fresh in my memory of my love for them. One from 40 years ago, one from 30 years ago, and one just recently. It is hard for me to take my heart back once I give it.

Oh sweetie, this is absolutely normal, healthy even....These beautiful memories are the ones you keep, the ones that live "within" the love you feel for that person...It does not mean you want to be with that person, it does not mean you cannot love another...It just means you are capable of loving in the truest sense...flowerforyou  flowerforyou

frown Sorry to hear that. I am mostly cut from the same tree. Even being so young, I consider myself to have already lived 3 lifetimes. In holding on, do you find this might be what impedes us from moving on? From finding it again?

I think deep down I know I am capable of caring for someone deeply. Reminiscing is a funny thing. I can't help the premonitions that seem to pop up when I'm not looking. Sometimes I don't think I'll ever find what I had with my ex-fiance again. The good dialogue we had, I find I speak it aloud randomly when I think of him. LOL Yeah, its weird stuff like that that makes me unique. I appreciate it not being a bad thing. It doesn't make me feel bad when it happens.

You get the voice of experience in here :-)

You can fall out of love instantly, with
enough grief applied.
You can find out that the one you love has
no soul, and whatever is there instead, is
rotten to the core.

But..
You can remember all of your life, what it
felt like to be in love.
That is worth holding onto.
Even if the person is long gone in the past.

This is not the same as still being in love
with them, though it might feel similar.
You are just giving your memories some respect.
That is wholesome. You earned them.

If you love correctly, you will always remember.
It is that kind of emotion.

When you give all of you to someone and they leave or you leave them.. It's like death it takes time to heal and move on.. They will always be a part of you but you will move on..

Easily ......

Then you feel stupid after 20plus years for being an idiot.

It happens.

Then, you find good love and it makes all the stupid schitt worth suffering through.

yes it is possible - to fall out of love - sometimes once the infatuation is over we realize that we are not in love

also once in love, people can change & grow apart and if that is not managed well by the couple - or one of them resents the changes - sometimes arguing will ensue - over time if there is a lot if arguing the unkind words and feelings can chip away at the love that was there - even if it was very real & very strong

that is why it is very important to be careful how disagreements are voiced with a partner - and to attend to a partner\\ as neglect is as powerful a love killer as is arguing

It didn't impede me from finding #3. Will be hard right now with her so fresh, but I hope someday I will find one. Never give up, never surrender.
