He cries silently in the night so no one can hear the tears that form a pool that reflect the inner breaking of his heart.
The cat comes in, he clutches her close in the hopes of warding off his unyielding sorrow. He listens to her purr, the beat of her heart and still the tears continue to flow, the pool continues to grow. Her fur caresses his skin as her head burrows in and he inhales her scent. The twitch of her ears lures him near and still the tears continue to flow and the pool continues to grow. The cat eventually crawls away, he feels cold and alone. Will this sorrow never go? Will this pain never ebb? Will these tears continue to flow? Will this pool continue to grow? As Savannah wraps him in her embrace, his eyes start to close, his breath begins to slow, his tears no longer flow, the pool no longer continues to grow. He is at peace, at slumber and so very alone. The sun breaks on the dawn, tentatively he wakes, tentatively he tests his ravished heart and tentatively the tears start to flow, tentatively the pool begins to grow...again. for Lee and his beloved daughter Savannah may she rest in peace. |

To be hoest, writing this has been a cathartic experience for me.
Savannah's passing was very recent and she was only 7mths old when she died. |
