The Department of Health and Human Services said in a statement that it is investigating. In the statement, the department denies that its employee inspected the lunch and denies instructing "any child to replace or remove any meal items."
When in doubt blame the kid . . . oh we didnt say that, the kid must have misunderstood . . .

Here's proof, nuggets come from actual chickens.

I'm not defending what the school did, but I just want to point out:

The child was probably not given only chicken nuggets. The child was probably given a complete and balanced lunch, of which the chicken nuggets were only providing protein. The child probably simply rejected all the food they were forced to take, except for the chicken nuggets. So saying that she was 'fed chicken nuggets in place of her lunch' is misleading.

I've worked with preschool kids and grade school kids before. There are too many parents out there who completely don't care. There are kids who are not getting fed at home, and who are being sent to school without nutritious lunches.

If the 'turkey and cheese sandwich' mentioned was like the ones I have seen, then it was a pathetic single slice of the thinnest processed turkey, on the cheapest of insubstantial white breads. The kind of 'sandwich' I could ball up and squeeze down to the size of a quarter.

I'm told that there is a correlation between the quality of a child nutrition and the proper development of their nervous system, and also their intelligence. Malnourished kids are at a huge disadvantage in life.

Personally, I think its unfair that so many children suffer as a result of their parents indifference or stupidity.

I'm not sure what the answer is.

Ronald Raygun's administration changed the rules so that ketchup was...

huh

Less government is fine, and necessary in areas, as long as we do not take away money from public schooling. It is already house poor. We spend approx. 7 to 10 times as much per federal inmate per year as we do per public student. Astounding. Utterly astounding.

Its not the states job, besides a little kid like that doesn't need 3oz of protein as that could lead to gout.
