Topic: Genetically Modified..... Bees?! o.o

I keep hearing about this company.
Through circulars, web letters, e-mails, etc.

Apparently they are a huge corporation that, I'm assuming specializes in genetics of all sorts. Don't quote me.

What I do know about them is that they are apparently one of the most detested companies on the planet yet somehow rack in a revenue of more than $10.5 billion a year.

Monsanto recently, or maybe not so recently anymore, purchased Beeologics who is mostly known for developing the groundbreaking research into the RNAi technology application on honeybees.

Honeybees you say?

Yes, a bee-specific virus that is known as IAPV, or Israeli Acute Paralysis Virus, which originated in Australia but was named in Israel in 2002.

Now this takes me back to my original point.

Why would a genetics company, like Monsanto, want to buy a a company like Beeologics, if not for wanting to smother out competition (like Bayer and Syngenta who also vied to buy it).

So, does this mean we, in maybe the new future, will be stung by a genetically modified bee? One that's, say, pesticide resistant, or maybe able to sting and survive?

Now I ask this..

Cause when I played it out in my head, I started to realize I was teetering on the brink of entering an area I've tried not to fully enter, but more just peek in from the outside and keep an open mind..

...a conspiracy theorist.

-----------------------------------------------------------

In case you are wondering where I got my references:

Business Week - Stated Monsanto had bought the company.

blog.targethealth.com - 'Proves' crops are pollinated by bees

Wikileaks - States and shows examples of government officials taking talking points from the company; in other words, receiving advice from a 'rich, greedy, and evil mega-corporation'.

Vanity Fair - Their site talks a lot about the 'evil' that is Monsanto.

So, anyone know anything about Monsanto?

Monsanto is the corp who paid congress to allow them to start screwing with our food and forcing farmers to only buy their seeds of which the crop does not yield fertile seeds at the end of the season. As far as bees go, researchers have been looking at the Israeli virus, mites, fungus and how to make them impervious to pesticides for quite some time.

Well, it makes us wonder wtf, for sure.

Why so much interest in the level of
control over the FDA if not to do 'bad' things..

Doesn't make sense.

Besides they have a bad history with the agent orange thing...
now their part of pfizer pharmaceuticals, so they still suck.

But the Insects couldn't care less, and merrily kept on eating!bigsmile

..what I wonder.

Is why is it called the Israeli Virus, when it originated in Australia and they know it?

..so is it wrong for me to look at them from the Star Trek side of things.. and hold them at a cannon fire length..

..or does it make me a conspiracy nut too?

o.o

I mean, buying a bee company which almost seems sheerly out of greed, due to their competitors competing over it; seems a little unorthodox for a company like that. Probable, yes, but I can't help but feel like there is more to it than just that.

..that's what I'm starting to think.

Genetically modified foods...
..when their are no options left to eat..

Will sound awfully tempting.

..and awfully profitable.

Just because it originated in Australia doesn't mean anything, if the virus' code was broken in another country then that is where the name comes from.

Just For Info
Monsanto After being slammed with a lawsuit by concerned farmers over their GMO crops and thrown out by China, now the corrupt juggernaut is being thrown out of the United Kingdom. In an unprecedented announcement, Monsanto announced a major departure from the UK due to “intense opposition” to genetically modified foods from activists. As a result, the company is now closing its genetically modified wheat growing operation based in Cambridge. Monsanto officials even went on record stating that the move was a result of opposition.

At the USDA's Carl Hayden bee center here I was working on a research project for the UofA and there is a bunch of research done by many different groups to see how they can make the honey bee stronger. Its a sign that we a screwing things up and if you don't honey bees and bees in general are not important think again, bees are the chief pollinators and if they die off to a certain level vegetation including crops will not be pollinated and that would be very bad for us humans.

Maybe this is why!
Developing Medications against Disease could be lucrative in the light of what has been happening with Bees lately!

Yea, I know their separate corps.

There is some pharma monsanto owned, pfizer bought...
something along those lines, not very educated on the
connection but there is one.

I do NOT trust any of the pharmaceuticals or any of their bedfellows.

Anyone aware of this?

Nuclear Bomb Proof

Monsanto are involved in this I think

The Svalbard Global Seed Vault, or the Doomsday Vault as the media have nicknamed it, was officially opened on February 26, 2008, to serve as the ultimate safety net for one of the world’s most important natural resources.

...say wha?

No I wasn't.

Just recently even discovered Monsanto outside some of the other proclamations, claims, and bad coverage.

*sigh*

..when did the rusted copper penny actual hold more value than a single human life?

I think they have done this in preparation for a couple of natural catastrophes we're over due for. The paleo magnetic field is getting weaker so we know the poles are going to switch and that could happen at anytime. There's that little volcano known as Yellowstone that's over due to pop.

It will destroy all the inhabitants of this planet except the descendants of Dick Cheney and The Bush Dynasty.

They will be safely ensconced Inside The Svalbard Global Seed Vault

Forgot to include The Blair's Rockefellers and Rothschilds
