Cops in Hope Mill, N.C., opened fire with a stun gun on a woman who butted in line at a McDonald's drive-thru.
Evangeline Lucca, 37, who was with her three-year-old daughter, became confrontational with burger joint employees, who refused to serve her at the pick-up window Friday and asked to go to the end of the line. Lucca refused to budge by the time police came 20 minutes later and took a shot from a stun gun for her belligerence, the Fay Observer reported. A second shot was needed before "she just flopped out of the car like a fish," customer Andy Rich told the Observer. She's charged with second-degree trespass and her daughter was taken into protective custody. A women cut in line and was tasered in front of her daughter who is now in protective custody. -------------------------------------- I would like to know more about this story and if this women's daughter has been or will be released to her. Although I do think this women is a nut for her actions I do not think that this event warrants the child removal. If they mentioned other issue that may have lead to that decision then cool. The way the story reads i do not really like how any of it was handled. What do you think and why the hell is this in my local paper in Canada lol |

Based on just this..no, her child shouldn't have been taken any where.
She was rude as hell and it would seem, has a bad temper, that day anyway. The kid at the window should have just served her and moved her on. I'm sure it's not the first time it happened or the last. What a hassle and a ridiculous scenario. Waiting 20 minutes for the cops, line getting backed up, lady getting zapped and "flopping like a fish" in front of her 3 year old. Kid being taken somewhere with strangers... Geez, I'll bet everybody in the drive thru got cold food. Another reason not to go to mcdonalds! |

She could have cut someone off, or punched it to get there first...
something like that. People do that all the time. Even if the person at the window saw something like that, should have just served her, she got there first. |

To get rid of her yes serve her, but for a normal more rational person who does not have 20 minute tantrums, I say don't serve them at all if the can't wait their turn.

You covered it Ladylid!...What ever happened to proactive thought and action...Mountain out of a mole hill at a three year old's expense...Beyond stupid!!!...Not to mention the red tape attached for years to come because they removed the child from the mother...

If this womans choices led to her own inability to tend to her child, then I would hope that people would step up to take care of her. Its a terrible shame that this child would both, have to witness her mothers poor choices, but also clearly not acting in the best interest of the child from any angle I can see here. As a parent myself, I would not be cutting in line with my child, nor would I delay feeding them lunch because I wanted to defend my choice to cut in line in front of my child. If when police arrived, I continued to show my child that I would not comply with social rules and laws, and allowed myself to display my incapacitation to the public in order to attempt to get my way, what sort of message does that child receive? How often does this woman teach her child this...how often does this mother behave badly to the point of police involvement? I value 'right and wrong' behavior lessons. I hope this child can get them. Technically, you are correct.........majority of society dictates "right and wrong" behaviors........majority dictates conformity It was absolutely bad behavior and tasteless to cut in line, but the staff could have just served the woman and moved on.....it was in poor taste of the Restaurant as well....whose obligation is to serve the customer in as timely a manner as possible seeing to it that the rest of the customer get served in a timely manner as well......it is called "the hospitality industry". This doesn't seem very hospitable to me.... And removing a child over this is quite ridiculous.....yes she teaches her child behaviors out of the norm....yes parents should lead by example....but what lessons is she teaching her child we do not know....children shouldn't be removed out of their parents care simply because we don't agree with the child's lessons......abusiveness yes..... I have to be honest I don't necessarily teach my children conformity.......my children will not march behind a Stalin, Bonaparte or Hitler |

I think it is more about logic and consideration for others than conformity in this case.
Most rules have logical intentions and require the ability and desire to think of others,, some are just preposterous the kids are being taught to be lazy thinkers (and in many cases entitled brats) in too many cases though and not able to use logic or reason to understand which is which,,,, |

Sea, I assume the child was removed because the mother was incapacitated. If they choose to do more than temporary care while she recovers from the stun gun and whatever else she earned, then that will be up to child welfare. To be honest there is probably something wrong with the woman that may have required meds not taken.......probably delusions of persecution or something......but tasing her?? Law enforcement tend to jump to physical measures way too quickly especially in front of her child....It reminds of the child calling ONSTAR commercial (personally I find ONSTAR an invasion and wouldn't have it) where her mother is swerving all over the road because she is diabetic and something happens......just imagine someone being pulled over diabetic doesn't stop crashes and cops pull out of car physically damaging individual before realizing it was a medical issue........This had to be some kind of medical issue think about.......would anyone with a lucid perspective actually do something like this?? C'mon........ |

The article doesn't really give much info as far as the little girl.
I'm quite sure there have been times when we weren't the best example for our children...I'm sure I had my moments over the last 30 years.....if children are removed for this reason then we have a problem. It's bull$****! I think child welfare is a little overzealous. |
