Reality Check - Mystery Writer of Ron Paul's 'Racist' Newsletters Uncovered

Doesn't change facts...the newsletters were written under Paul's supervision, his company, his name...Paul profited from these newsletters to the tune of a cool million bucks a year for several years......The fact that he did nothing at the time spells political disaster in the respect that by doing nothing, he endorsed and/or agreed with the racist language exampled in his newsletters...His newsletter, his company, his responsibility...and pleading ignorance isn't going to win him any favors either....

What I got out of it......is everyone is accused of racism for one thing or another.....in any decision you make their is a chance of being accused of racism by someone somewhere.....every person....

Two wrongs do not make a right....and everyone is not running for President...constantly....

people do need to use logic and pay attention to context, but they also need to be aware that racism and racists are real,,even when they are covert and though there is a cry wolf result in some cases, most of the time there really is racism there,,,,why?

because AMERICA is founded and created just as much by people being oppressed and subjugated by race

as it is by people of all races coming together

there is racism in alot of what people do because america has a race charged and racist background which is a deep part of its foundation and much of what has stemmed from it,,,,,,

And this is EXACTLY why Paul should be, and is being, criticized and held accountable for every single racist word written in HIS newsletters....Shame on you Ron Paul.....

But every single candidate including the incumbent has been accused of racism......go back to the 50's racism was more widely accepted and not as frowned upon....every ten years it became more frowned upon and less socially acceptable.....not because someone was say extremely prejudiced and racist 50-70 years ago for example (not stating this remains the case), but how long do we hold hold this against each one of the candidates that time may have changed their perceptions. I prefer to look at the voting histories, which help me to align what concepts I concur with or do not.

Liberals have driven 'racism, racist, biggot, hate monegerer' etc into the ground. So anymore when the term racist appears it really depends on whether or not you like the accused as to how much of a racist he/she really is.

This is a great idea, except that in a presidential role, people do look at mannerism and temperament as well because the WORLD is much more likely to be seeing them than they are a congressman.

Otherwise, I concur that single moments or statements should never define any person, including a politician (who are also people, despite popular belief) and should be only considered along with CONCURRING and RECENT information that supports those statements.

As I said in another thread, there was a time when I just didnt have an 'attraction' to white males, but I have grown more and experienced more and since that time I have had several interracial relationships including a marriage.

PEople should be permitted to be fallible humans capable of making mistakes and learning from them to become better people. But we rarely give politicians that chance while digging for 'dirt'.

There are things some have said though, ideas that seem persistent in their personal ideologies which are racially concerning to me,,,,but thats another thread.

I guess what I am saying is everyone running or campaigning for the Presidency have racist moments. Every single one including Obama.

Yes true, every single candidate has been accused of racism...I will even go so far as to say that door swings both ways.....However, Paul's case goes beyond accusations of racism...His racists slurs were different in many respects....His was not one statement, but several...His was landed against not only blacks, but Jews....Paul profited greatly from his POLITICAL newsletter....The newsletter was circulated....It bore his name....In the late 80's, when first questioned about it he pleaded ignorance, but never retracted, never dealt with it. If he had, he would not be dealing with it to the degree he is now....and NO, that newsletter would have been offensive to me and many others 5 years ago, 10 years ago, 15 years ago, 20 years ago, even 50 or 70 years ago.....Hell why not go back to the Civil War.....I prefer to look at EVERYTHING.....And you are absolutely right when you say time "may" have changed their perceptions....May have, may not be good enough.....Maybe time has NOT changed their perceptions....50/50?...Is that like the toss of a coin?

Paul was involved in a busy OB/GYN practice at this time, only submitted articles about hard money for print, didn't have involvement in editing, Lew Rockwell was running the newsletter, under Pauls name, and using ghost writers for the articles.

RP has said he takes responsibility for they were under his name, but he didn't write them, he doesn't agree with them, and his record proves that.

Now the actual writer has been named (what they wanted all along) and RP, under contract, couldn't reveal.

So now the truth is known, get over it!

well, if he dealt with it,, good for him.

But just like people will always accuse the president because of his pastors views,, even though he also denounced them

people will always hold Paul responsible for what was written in his paper,,,,

I believe Ron Paul....I don't think he wrote or was aware of what was writtn until the aftermath.

I know you do and actually I do too, but the problem is his refusal to take responsibility for what was written under his name and for which he was was handsomely paid...I bet he cashed the checks....There is no excuse for him not knowing....If he can't run a newsletter responsibly, how am I or anyone else supposed to believe he can run a nation responsibly....

I still think that if something happens on my watch,it is my responsibility!

I think we all learn from our mistakes......and I think he learned and wouldn't make that mistake again......I didn't say the letters weren't his responsibility......my son is my responsibility but he sneaks past me to do what he isn't supposed to I catch him of course and he may be grounded for the rest of his life at this point because....he continually does it.....I can't pee without him sneaking out on me....god forbid I want a shower......I do believe he can run the country and do it well running circles around the competition.

The president doesn't "run the nation". In America we only use "executive" in the sense of "a person who executes(carries out) laws written by congress". The president's tasks are clearly outlined and very limited (see Article II of the Constitution).
