Isn't being a servant bad enough? Imagining being a sub-servant must be horrible.

That depends on who you serve!

But these things hold true as far as cultural beliefs (or at least an expectation culturally),
1. People marry to give a child a name...IMO the only reason marriage is needed!
2. People marry because religious values and morality says one must marry for the act of procreation...those values have been outdated for centuries!
3. People marry out of social expectation...yes, this one got me :(
4. People marry for community advancement...I can see that!
Now these are the core beliefs.

But then it crossed my mind what we are told.

1. We will meet a Boy/ Girl, settle down, and have kids...sick of hearing this crap!
2. You are not happy unless you are married...I was not happy married & found out I no longer suffered from depression single!!!
3. You can have limitless sex finally...right, that doesn't last long & then they start screwing someone else!

Many religions say,

1. Women are subservient to men...some women enjoy this, some don't!
2. Birth control is bad...I am much much saner with this stuff!
3. DIVORCE? DO YOU WANT TO GO TO HELL???...I'm going there for not following all the rules put forth by the righteous church going folk anyhow!
4. Your wife has to serve her husband!...serve him what?
5. Marriage is forever whether you like it or not...only until you get divorced & stop the insanity!

I'm with RKISIT...except I like lima beans! I won't be making that mistake again.

I married my second wife,,not just because I knew I loved her,and she loved me,,but we shared three children in OUR life we lived,(THEY had different moms and dads),and in order to feel we lived within and under GOD,,we wed for the sake of all three of them,,sharing in our marriage vows,,as they also were bonded with Christ in our marriage,,as Brothers and Sisters to each other..THAT made their lives of fighting and not feeling or knowing that love which they never felt at birth,,THEY went on to KNOW,,they were really Family,,and never again did they have any fighting between them,,as to THAT BEING THEIR LIVED TRUTH..
So,,YES,,Marriage covers many reasons of truth to bare to all to be..

I was listening to Handel on the Law this morning (radio show) and a guy called in. He had been with his girlfriend for 20 years and she died suddenly of a heart attack. Her family had her funeral and buried her and won't tell him where she's buried. He apparently has no legal right to this information.
