I caught myself recently, constantly quoting my grandfather.

Mainly, for three reasons:

1. In the absence of a 'father', he was my dad.

2. IMO; he was the greatest inspiration in my life.

3. He was my idol.

So, this post is dedicated to that idea.

It is a passage of his most memorable quotes. :P

If you have anyone that meant something to you.
Past, Present, Future.

You can easily contribute; if you desire.

If not, don't.

But, I will keep his memory alive.

..so hopefully, my children will do the same for me.

Hope you like them. :D

He was a funny, yet wise guy.

War Veteran.

3 Wars.
Survived Pearl Harbor.
Raised four kids.
Married once; lasted over 70 years.
She passed away 08.18.2006 (My birthday)
He passed 11.16.2010

Final interesting fact:

G-pa birthday: 11.16
Enlisted: 11.16
Retired: 11.16
Passed Away: 11.16

He was 86 years old.

"I hope I'm still making you proud."
 you.

"Fear is a word. It's a word we use as an excuse. We then use this excuse to get out of doing things that hinder us from excelling. This is life. Everyone is, at some point, afraid of death. Does that stop any of us from doing it? So, don't fear the stupid little spider. He sees eight large giants when he looks at you; yet he'll stand his ground. You realize how sad that makes you look? Now go crush the d*** thing and stop bothering me. John Wayne is on."

“You know what’s wrong with the world today? There are no more cowboys anymore. Everyone seems to be an outlaw. The cops that are left, well, there outlaws, too, they just have the law on their side.”

“You know why I fought wars to fend our freedom? So, I can smack my 60-year old lady’s a** in my own kitchen. So, if you have a problem with that. Pick up a rifle and you go fight to change it.”

“Life molds you into who you become. Grass grows, flowers grow, trees grow, and if you think we are any different; you’re an idiot. The only true thing that separates us is a situation that made us perceive growth differently. For you, it was getting in your first fight at school. For me, it was getting and having kids, getting married, and then joining a war. For your grandmother, it was gaining 20 extra pounds. Don’t see change as always an instant bad thing; even if she did get bigger, I just have more of her to love.”

“Don’t sweat all this small crap. If you do, what are you gonna do when something big happens?”

“Do I fear dying? Why should I? I came. I saw. I was happy. I lived. I died. Nothing wrong with any of that; so long as when you reach the end of the road, you have the ability to say, ‘I conquered life, life didn’t conquer me’.”

“Football is for jocks. Cheering is for cheerleaders. Crops are for farmers. Livestock is for butchers. War is for soldiers like me. Politics are for those without any other talent.”

“Look, if I tell you the sun is yellow and the sky is blue and that the ocean is deep and freezing cold; you’d believe me, right? So, if I tell you Chuck Norris killed the tooth fairy, why won’t you believe that? Think for yourself or you’ll just be another know-it-all who knows nothing.”

“People are like apples no matter what you try to do; they’re just rotten to the core. Others taste better when thrown in a blender and made into sauce.”

“Don’t worry about falling. Even if she doesn’t catch you, the ground will.”

“Well, you ever gonna get up? If you stay down there forever, all life is going to give you is footprints on your face.”

“Do you feel better now? You just wasted an hour of an already short life crying. What if the girl of your dreams just walked by, and you were too self-absorbed to notice?”

“Half of life is learning, the other half is passing on that knowledge.”

“Trust me, I didn’t live to be in my 80’s to be your walking encyclopedia. If you want to know something, go find out for yourself. If you want to be lazy, then it just shows it ain’t that d*** important to you, is it?”

"Look, Granny, you used up all your b**** cards for the week. If you got anymore complaints; tell your grandson, or drop it in my 'I'll get to it when you're giving me some' box."

Haha.

Just remembered that one.

Oh, yeah.. and this classic one outside of Wal-mart.

"I'm a God-fearing man, Ethel. So, yes, I admit she was pretty, but I'd sooner push you into traffic before breaking my vow to God."

First laugh out loud I had in a long while. Thank you for sharing these.

I hear ya bro. Just say your grandpa was a LEGEND. He knew whats going on in world, and had a better vision of life. And not to mention this- he seems to be a bada$$. He's a survivor of pearl harbor. * shows the respect*. Well... My grandpa is too old. I hardly even talk to him n Dad. Its been almost 2years i met him. I dont remember his quotes. My dad's in Air force n he wanted me to follow his footsteps. And now i look at myself, see where i am today. Im at my own doing modeling. But i do remember dad telling me how horrible a war is. We all have heard war tales in our childhood. Some are even a victim. Then he further asks son, do you fear death? And im like offcourse dad i do! There's only one life to live. He just stares at me. I find it embarrasing to talk to him about this stuff. Currently my relationship with him isnt like it used to be but still i love you dad.

Thank you.. :)

While the story connected with each quote adds even more flavor and humor to it; I figured nobody would read it had I made it that long. xD

But ty for all the comments. :)
