Ok since you want to talk about names how they change from different languages.
Miles..the NAME does NOT change ,just because it is translated into different languages. Same goes with translating ALL OF GOD'S WORD into different languages : TRANSLATING the WORD OF GOD into DIFFERENT LANGUAGES , does NOT CHANGE the WORD OF GOD !!! GOD IS A BIG ENOUGH GOD TO KEEP WATCH OVER HIS HOLY WORD . GOD'S WORD IS THE SAME YESTERDAY, TODAY, AND FOREVER. GODS WORD DOES NOT CHANGE....GOD'S WORD STANDS TRUE FOREVER. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Now, if we wanted to get real technical and stuff :
in Hebrew, Yahweh is הוה and Yeshua is יֵשׁוּעַ But then again, Jesus and His Apostles spoke Aramaic, instead of Hebrew. And So, we could go on and on and on.... But Thank God, God ain't too concerned with all this technical stuff...He is much more concerned as to whether or not we have invited Him to live in our heart. Amen? Amen. It is good that we can all can laugh together though....... ![]() Laughter is good medicine.... ![]() ![]() ![]() |

According to those who read and uphold the Old Testament (or other sacred texts from which the Christian Testament evolved) the whole point of Sabbath is that God rested from 6 days of labor.
What did God do before It created the universe and for how long was It so occupied with pre-human history? Did God ever rest befor that? Another question that comes to mind: Do humans give God a day of rest or do they expect that God has been and always will be attentative to us and our universe continuously since that last day of rest he took after creating it? These are questions that make me wonder why humans need a Sabboth day at all? One more question - Regardless of when you think Sabboth should be, is there anyone here who has NEVER ever made a purchase on the Sabboth? I only questions that because if you've taken the role of 'consumer' to the market place EVER on that day, have you not considered the fact the you EXPECT to find people working? Do you really think all those people are atheists or pagans? |

![]() Scriptures on the Eternality of God: Genesis 21:33 Abraham planted a tamarisk tree in Beersheba, and there he called upon the Name of the LORD, the Eternal God. Psalm 90:1-4 Lord, you have been our dwelling place throughout all generations. Before the mountains were born or you brought forth the earth and the world, from everlasting to everlasting you are God. You turn men back to dust, saying, “Return to dust, O sons of men.” For a thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in the night. Exodus 3:13-14 Moses said to God, “Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they ask me, ‘What is his name?’ Then what shall I tell them?” God said to Moses, “I am who I am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites: ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ Psalm 100:5 For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations. Ephesians 3:10-11 His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to his eternal purpose which he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord. John 8:58 I tell you the truth,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I AM! Revelation 1:8 I Am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty. Isaiah 57:15 For this is what the high and lofty One says— he who lives forever, whose name is holy: “I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite.” Deuteronomy 33:27 The eternal God is your refuge 1 Timothy 1:17 Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

According to those who read and uphold the Old Testament (or other sacred texts from which the Christian Testament evolved) the whole point of Sabbath is that God rested from 6 days of labor. Actually that is completely false about the reasoning behind the Sabbath. The whole point of the Sabbath is NOT that God rested after 6 days of labor. The Sabbath is said to be a time which God suggests that people set aside for introspection and rest because it is good for us and improves us. An example is given that God rested but you can't take it to be anything more than allegorical. Obviously a day according to God does not have to be the same as a day according to us and also God does not need to rest for any reason anyway...that much is just a story. An all powerful eternal being has no need for a concept of time or any need for rest and labor is effortless. So it is merely a nice story to make you think. If you like you may think that God rested even though such a rest was not at all needed to set an example of how humans might work in a concentrated fashion towards an ambitious goal and having accomplished the goal take a time to reflect on the work done and how things might be improved in general. One might also go so far as to say that the story suggests that a good ratio of concentrated work time to rest time is 6/7 work time and 1/7 rest time as related in the story. ![]() What did God do before It created the universe and for how long was It so occupied with pre-human history? Did God ever rest befor that? The Bible is completely silent regarding what God did before. The Bible only says what the Bible says - the rest is conjecture. So there is no point to these two questions. No one knows. Of course the whole Bible itself is subject to interpretation so there is a limit to what one knows about even the part that is written down. But the part which is unwritten is completely pointless to even discuss. At least the Bible has nothing to say about it. ![]() Another question that comes to mind: Do humans give God a day of rest or do they expect that God has been and always will be attentative to us and our universe continuously since that last day of rest he took after creating it? These are questions that make me wonder why humans need a Sabboth day at all? God does not need rest - even though the Bible says God did rest. Humans do not need to give God any rest. God is omnipotent and omniscient and ubiquitous so we are all a part of God. Humans need a Sabbath day because we are not God and we tire. It is helpful to us to have some time set aside without workday responsibilities for self analysis and to acknowledge our smallness in the world, to become more aware of the vast beauty of the world that is the beauty of God, and to plan and visualize a better world. ![]() One more question - Regardless of when you think Sabboth should be, is there anyone here who has NEVER ever made a purchase on the Sabboth? I only questions that because if you've taken the role of 'consumer' to the market place EVER on that day, have you not considered the fact the you EXPECT to find people working? Do you really think all those people are atheists or pagans? I would not be surprised if there were many people who never made any purchase on the Sabbath. There have been many communities where they strictly observed the Sabbath locally and there was no commerce on those days. The whole communities participated as I understand it and all shops were closed so it was impossible for anyone in the community to do business on such days. Of course there were always exceptions for illnesses and accidents and services could always be rendered and paid for at a later date. Such practices of course have never been universal. People who do not observe the Sabbath in such a way are hardly atheists or pagans. They are simply people who did not always strictly observe the Sabbath or observed in differing ways. Not a big deal. |
