Take it as a compliment, and love the fact he feels this way about you.

There are so many kinds of love. Sounds like he loves and respects you very much. Maybe just not the way that makes a couple last.

Yep, I said something similiar to my ex-boyfriend. I knew I couldn't give him what he needed and it wasn't fair to him. I wanted him to be happy and guess what he is someone who truly does make him happy; so I did the right thing although at first he was quite hurt.
