Jumped the shark.

It is kind of like Bush Sr. not knowing how bar scanners work at
the grocery. It is a moment of complete disconnect with the voters.
Romney forgot how much so many people would like to have a measly
10,000 smackers.

It's over like Howard Dean's scream of victory.

Of course $10,000 means nothing at all to Mitt Romney.
That's the problem.

it shows how naive voters are to think that 10000 should mean the same to someone worth millions as it does to the average family earning 50000 per year

its really not news,,,,

Thought he was smarter than that.
Smells like desperation to me.

The same kind of desperation which brought Palin into the national spotlight!

I Have to disagree! VERY much the news! How can people struggling to put the next meal on the table, TRUST someone to UNDERSTAND, that can "laugh off" $10,000, how their decisions might effect the average person?

I was thrilled that he sabotaged himself! He is a very scary person...his politics would put us back decades! YAY!!! Bubbye, Mitt!

so, if they dont believe people who make more should be expected to SPEND more, they shouldnt vote in anyone without an average income

but realistically, people dont usually make more money to continue spending like the 'average' person

10000 to someone worth 30 mill is about the same as 10 dollars to the person who is worth 30 thousand

and im sure the average earner throws out that much going to a movie,,,,

In essence wouldn't that make Romney just as niave to not recognize how much 10000 dollars would mean to those voting for or against him?

Indeed. Ms, you are forgetting all of the burdens that come with being worth 30,000 as to 30,000,000. Most people have to watch ye olde checkbook constantly at the 30,000 level, hence there is much worry about making ends meet with 30,000 than if you have 30 mill.

not at all, 10000 means alot to me because it takes me most a year to earn it

I realize that he probably earns that in a month

gamblers often throw out that much of their income if the payoff is big enough,,,

why shouldnt he be just as free to spend what he earns as I am?

Not saying that he shoudln't be free to spend his earnings, but into today's economy with many out of work a bet like that on public television is gross negligence on his part. Maybe he should have stated I will bet you 10000 dollars and match the bet with a donation to a soup kitchen for the homeless. It was definitely a negligent factor towards many watching him live for him to rub the fact that he is wealthy into faces of the poor.

I guess the average idealistic voter may have felt so

I didnt take it as a rub in my face at all, I See people spend more of their earnings at the casinos and the movies on a regular basis

and I expect gambling is something people of all incomes still do,,,
but its their money and their risk,,,

I imagine he could have bet 1 dollar, but that number would have been seen as an insult too,,considering how much he earned

seems like a no win situation in which voters dont want to aknowledge what gambling actually is and want to take everything to extremes,,,,

Because he's running for office maybe? And it's sad to say, but you can bet there is someone keeping tabs on what exactly he purchases or doesn't and why.

well, I Dont think ones job should be a reason for them to have less rights and privileges with their money than anyone else

but I guess IM in a less judgmental minority where that is concerned as I just dont care about peoples personal lives or financial habits when it comes to their J O B

He should be setting an example since he is in the public eye with many watching him and not condoning the actions of other to be wastrels and gamble. He is a public eye influence and should remember that, as everyone else in the public eye that do not.

setting what example? not to spend probably 1/3000 of your net worth on your own interests?

not a lesson I think most people need or would listen to

now, does he spend TAXPAYER money responsibly? thats a different question.
