In the Hermit, the face of the Hermit is actually a photo of a family member, and the little boy's head is the back of the head of my nephew.

Both heads were taken by my camera in the same shot when my nephew was showing something to my uncle.

Three different old masters paintings were used to compose this picture. I am currently re-painting it on a large canvas.

My predictions for 2012 +...

This will be a turbulent world as far as international geography. I think we will see internal terrorism spike in and around the UK, Bosnia, the Middle East, and Africa.

The sleeper area lot of folks have ignored South America; maybe even Mexico will see massive revolution in their quettos with whole areas destroyed by internal gangs. Piracy along the California, Florida ect. coasts and Texas will become a bigger problem. The US Navy, Coast Guard, and Air Force will see major reactivation but ground troops will stay with in our borders.

Three years service to country 18-21 will eventually be instituted as a funding source for any advanced education as school loans dry up and people become aware of brain developement in that age range. Recent policies of draft and extened force military service once your in will end since military retirement is pretty much a farce. Service time will also actively push health care refoem and addiction intradiction. Service will be gender neutral deal and dorms will be single occupancy rooms. Service will become a quiet way to earn amnesty for non citizens. Public nurseing homes and other public services will become popular ways to serve Service To Country time. Dormatorys for Service to Country workers will be common and built as part of the save our national parks initative.

Venezula is going to make a play in Haiti and Hillary Clinto will use her political clout to squash that with Air Strikes in Haiti, chilling south America's desire to have that firepower leveled against them. Assisted by a political flip under the geriatric political dynasty ending in Cuba that makes them and Haiti both become and island state of the USA. Bill Clinton will die between her election and inauguration but it will be years before the true circumstances become known which I think will be a cover up for Their bisexual partying and savings in loan swindels in her early years. Trade and travel will become popular in Cuba as a vacation spot for marrieds and anniverseries pulling support in the Latino community that will soon control our political climate.

Haiti becomeing more of a tense military outpost. The French language there will die out and English will become the language of the government and school systems under subsidies that make all state schools equally funded in the USA; but there will still be much corruption. A bacterial staf infection epidemics will wipe out thousands because of poor medical care and substandard sewage treatment.

the industry to suffer the most will be larger air travel with multiple bankruptcies in the larger carriers as small privately owned carriers, bullet trains, luxury buses, and smaller more comfortable commuter planes becomeing popular as smaller communities want to keep their airports open and lobby for funding. Hotel construction around these smaller transportation hubs will boom.

North Korea's Dictator will die and in the interum many of the people who suffered under him will clean house and the two Koreas reunite becomeing a major trade partner. Hurting China's economy some but actually helping with medical care. As will Japan who is still going to be rebuilding for the next couple of decades.

China will see catestrohic death counts due to a COPD related form of flu exacerbated by their polution and highrise worker dormatories being over populated. Without their wages going to the elderly many will starve in the rural areas. Plastics manufacture there will collasp and those businesses will resume in the USA specificlly the midwest with some strict environmental controls. Anyone owning property their will see the booming economy raise taxes but with plentiful jobs there won't be a lot of complaining.

Curent Reduction In Force layoffs in the military are going to push a sizeable number of people into the US political process but isolationism, state side tourism, and buying American will be come the cause celeb as the world wide economy still falters under the Euro dollar system. Mass transit, car co-ops will become very popular as retirees don't want to drive and their middle aged children don't have time to drive them working into their late 70's. Home health and Food/shoping delivery systems will be a financial windfall for anyone savy enough to get in early. Uniform packageing and metric will become much more widespread to facilitate online shipping and delivery.

I do think the houseing boom will be in building or remodeling additions as families go back to the intergenerational family. You will see extended families co-op mini skilled care homes funded by anger towards banks demanding funding towards making forclosed properties available to creative financeing by citizens co-ops only. International and corporate ownership of houseing tracts will become unpopular as the houseing stock deteriourates and neighborhoods refuse to become slums.

Solar power and dual heating systems will for homes will become very popular as are hybrid cars. Homes designed for ageing in place (acessible) as cars that accomodate scooters that drive out with the ignition computer systems of the shell will be the new wave for American Auto manufacture. Cotton as a cash crop will be replaced by other sturdier fibers and cotton and tobacco fields will be converted to food production as imported foods become more expensive and contaminated.

The development of more favorable male birth control will help manage population but the new trend in families will be Grandfathers assisting as caregivers and custody/support of children being determined at birth or before by DNA testing. Father's rights will take hits as child support enforcement tightens radically but the balance gained by also forceing Mothers into financial support before they can recieve benifits if any actually exist will drop birthrates also. STD's and resulting sterility will grow as a birth preventative.

One of the biggest financial changes will be in education. Students will force colleges and other schools to be accountable for contractual agreements on tuition, books, and houseing costs as well as employent placement set at enrollment. Spartan dorms will reappear. Taxpayers furious with funding fraudulent student loans for never graduateing students and "social activists" will cut off students that do not attend class and make projected advancement. "Fake" colleges and worthless online dipomas will be cleaned up as RIF'd Vets see strict guidelines to their GI Bill Benefits added in.

Lower grades will see and extended school day as most families are made responsible for assisting in their child's school and or more teaching assistants and smaller neighborhood schools. Super campuses and over educated teachers will fall out of favor and homework and physical activity will be done at school so that fewer children are left to be latchkey disasters. Children will commute home with their parents who will often dine in route. Medical care will will become a lot larger part of school "care" as all people will be able to carry their entire medical/insurance on a watch size computer chip.

I think the Stop Walstreet demonstrations are going to be shut down fast as taxpayers find out cities can not afford the clean up and policeing costs and provide city services. Instead of maceing they will refuse to enter the camps, provide emergency services, or policeing. It will become illegal to provide toileting facilities, deliver food, or possess camping gear and they will be driven out much like the homeless have been for several years. With winter, spreading tuburculosis, flu, and crime the camps will reduce their own numbers as it won't be fun anymore. The recent crimes at Black Friday promotions will stop the sidewalk camping for their promotions so they will have less ways to set up. Flash Mobs will be delt with harshly as internet will be much better policed.

Last but not least I do think you will see more coupleing or small groupings of adults in 2012. Economics will play a part but I think health and direct social contact will also. People still crave and benifit from human contact and people are realizeing that factors heavily in quality of life. While I think computer friendships are satisfying to a certain level one to one parnerships will flourish and homes will commonly have seperate sleeping, sex, and grooming suite areas for private time with communal areas for dining or hobbies and exercise. With the advent of legal alternatives to spousal marriage rights such as advance directives for care, digital tracking of property ownership, and fewer years of procreation I think marriage relationships will be less common but lasting friendships will. While it is hard for me to comprehend sex as less related to love I may have to admit that is a dying ethic. The older I get the more convinced it is not so much sex that people seek as affection and fellowhip.
