Martin, would you consider giving a copy of this written statement to the Head of that hospital?
Send it certified mail and hand-picked deliver it.

I worked for Stanford school of Medicine; I know Heads want to know what is happening. And, bout 5 years ago, I went with my life-partner at the time to Kaiser. I read on the wall about precautions before operating procedures...Design!? Some, not all...operate on what shouldn't have been operated on! Schocking huh!
Also, the MD mentioned,: I am a "contract" Dr. All MD. Or most MDs have left this area on this specialization because of insurance, administration( paperwork) requirements!

All I know: read side effects of fine print! Be bold in the hospital: firm and gentle; take charge.
I wont go with you in your next visit. Though, ill keep you in my prayers.
Lastly, check out. Alexander Tsiaras o you tube: for understanding not only your body, but also there are MD' s that understand your point of view. Do they know!

@ MorningSong, I believe a lot in healing from other sources, more than medications. As the proof has always been in the way patients have healed. I think you're correct in your views :). I really don't believe in a pill-popping culture.

It seems to me that all 'healing' is done by the body. Medicine just helps eliminate obstacles to the body's own healing mechanisms. Which isn't to say that medicine is not needed - in some cases medicine is absolutely needed before the body is able to heal itself.

Sorry to hear about your problems, Sky.

I do find all this interesting. I might have even learned a bit by reading all this.

In any case, I know gall stones are very painful, and because of their location, a doctor must be careful in diagnosis. For instance, appendicitis feels quite similar to gall stones, but the appendix is located in a slightly different spot. Whenever dealing with acute pain in that area, appendicitis must first be ruled out because it can become deadly within just hours.

If I remember correctly, gall stones are made of cholesterol. So if gall stones are truly your problem, then you will likely be pressed to make changes to your diet. They may also be concerned about the health of your heart and your risk of heart disease. This may only be the beginning, so to speak.

I am not a big fan of ERs or emergency clinics (which are classified as ERs). I once broke my finger, and had to go to one of these clinics. Eleven days later, I had to walk back in, and demand x-rays on the finger because the "swelling" had not gone away. It turned out that I had a complete fracture of the knuckle. Because it had 11 days to heal, the bone could not be properly set without surgery. On top of that, I was told it would cost $1200 for the surgery. I couldn't afford that, and I didn't have insurance, so I opted for a splint. By the time all was done, it still cost me $1200, but they weren't upfront with me when I made the decision. If I had known that, I would have had the surgery.

After all that happened, I had a case for malpractice, but chose not to pursue it. All of this happened because the "doctor" at the ER never checked the finger. He never even touched, let alone ordered an x-ray. It could have been set and splinted right then without the need for surgery. It also would have saved me a fair amount of money.

To this day, I have a lump on the inside of the knuckle where the bone shifted to. I also cannot bend that knuckle completely, which means I have decreased grip. (It's the outermost knuckle of my right ring finger.) I had to stop playing ball because I lost control on my throws due to the decreased grip. I can't even swing a bat without pain in the finger due to vibration of from the bat. It's been 14 years.

I am NOT opposed to medicine OR doctors.

God gave us drs and medicine too...

God is a God of balance.

( God gives us our part to do towards healing..and then He does

what we cannot do.)

But when ,for instance, I see a shoebox full of different

prescriptions issued by drs to patients ( espcially the

elderly ),then that bothers me greatly !!!

You have to take charge of your doctors, Er's wont do crap but put
you through a bunch of tests and misdiagnose you and pump you with morphine or some other drug. I finally found out what was giving me problems with my stomach and they surprise misdiagnosed me , luckily
I wasn't hooked on any pain med's well I took them when I need them most. But write down your symptoms, and what the doc's say, if you have to do some research on the internet. I was labeled as having IBS , at first I thought finally something, but the med's wasn't helping the symptoms, went on the internet found out that IBS is a catch all for something the doc's don't know what it is. And yes it can be frustrating waiting on the doctors to make a decision. I finally
found out what it was though and got the help I need.
