I'm pretty sure I get my internet through my landline (DSL). So I don't think that's going anywhere. That's why I only have a landline, it's alreay in my house!

Maybe its because I live in BFE. My cable provider requires landline, but service is possible without it because my Iphone works fine. I just cant find a regular provider for my laptop without landline....yet. Im sorta new to these parts so I will look up this 'Clear' you mention sir mg.

Your iPhone doesn't require the same thing that you'll need from your laptop. Talk to Time Warner and ask them for options other than DSL.

Oh, sorry I was unclear. I dont have dsl. I have cable.

I have never heard of cable internet requiring a land line. That's strange!

I don't have a landline at home. Only at work. I have a cell phone and that's it. There's just no reason to have a landline at home.

I talk on the phone to have a conversation, although I prefer Skype to the phone.

I text to exchange messages that don't require complex communication. Although if I am in a location where I can't talk, but can text I may have a more in depth conversation via texting with my sister or someone who knows me well.

Ya, my dad has cable and no land line but he lives just outside of Boston. I think the technology requirements are not as ready here. I think per square mile, the livestock outnumber the people, and livestock are suprisingly disinterested in internet. I will limit that comment to the cows, since the goats and alpaca may hold some sort or respect and curiosity.

I was poking around online to see if I could find anything about cable internet requiring a landline and found nothing. Not even with time warner. So I'm not quite sure what you have.

I have a voip phone with comcast. The only reason is that I work at home and have to make international calls at times, which is cheaper using that than using my cell phone. Otherwise, I never use my home phone.
