Topic: Some Millionaires Support a Tax Increase on Their Incomes | |
---|---|
"The United States needs a tax increase for the sake of its fiscal health," Mr. Barr said. "If you fight two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, you have to pay for them. China owns a trillion dollars of U.S. government debt. That's not a healthy position for us to be in. We have to suck it up and pay more tax to help get rid of the deficit. I would pay more tax. I can afford to."

"You cannot legislate the poor into prosperity by legislating the wealthy out of prosperity. What one person receives without working for, another person must work for without receiving. The government cannot give to anybody anything that the government does not first take from somebody else. When half of the people get the idea that they do not have to work because the other half is going to take care of them, and when the other half gets the idea that it does no good to work because somebody else is going to get what they work for, that my dear friend, is the beginning of the end of any nation. You cannot multiply wealth by dividing it."
Adrian Rogers, 1931 sort of prophetic! |

I get a kick out of it everytime some Millionaire is coming up with something like that!
Appeasers, the lot! Poor Idiots, think they have no right to their wealth! Don't worry,Government will take notice! ![]() Winston Churchill addressed this strategy when he said “An appeaser is one who feeds a crocodile, hoping it will eat him last.” |

"… the greedy hand of government thrusts itself into every corner and crevice of industry, and grasps the spoil of the multitude. Invention is continually exercised, to furnish new pretenses for revenue and taxation. It watches prosperity as prey, and permits none to escape without a tribute"."
-- Thomas Paine then there are those who want to pay the Extortionist even more than he demands! ![]() ![]() ![]() |

There is a line on tax forms where they can give more money if they so chose to. Let them. If you. An talk the talk walk the walk. They can only take from you what you 'owe'. The line for extra tax doesnt amount to a contribution, it is there to insure against being UNDER taxed and still owing money. THey still have to return whatever is paid that is not 'owed'. |

Adrian Rogers, 1931 sort of prophetic! prosperity and poverty cannot exist without each other,, so we really cant legislate either one away,,,or legislate either one into the other BUT , there is a basic law concerning money that if you take in less than you owe you will have deficit and if you take in more than you owe you will have a surplus So a deficit requires one to either A) take in more money B) spend less money or C) both taxes increase revenue and cuts decrease spending, fiscally responsible policies must include one or the other or both to decrease deficits... NOTE: income taxes are not the ONLY type of revenue although they consist of nearly fifty percent of it there is also revenue generated from payroll taxes (one third of revenue) and corporate income tax (one eight of revenue) and excise and other taxes (one twentieth of revenue) a sound and responsible combination of increases to any or several of these would also curb a deficit,,,,just as much as would any combination of cuts to expenses(spending) |
