You mean like having the Department of State buy 70,000 dollars worth of you books...

so the book can stay on the 'best seller' list.

its not quite on the best seller, maybe the top 100, so Im not sure that 10,000 books (at the most, if they were each 7 dollars) made the difference

it would be low on my list though compared to the 100s of thousands and even millions spent on other things,,,

I dont think its legal to take money for personal income in exchange for a vote

What is "personal income" ? It doesn't matter who owns the money, what matters is who controls the money, and what limitations there are on how it may be spent.

It seems that it is legal to receive money which you are able to control and which you can use in surprisingly self serving ways.

PACs are just part of the problem.

Federal law requires a committee like Barr's, once set up, to donate money to at least five candidates for federal office, and to limit donations to any one candidate or committee to $5,000 per election cycle.

Otherwise, "they can spend their funds as they want, as long as they report it," said George J. Smaragdis, spokesman for the Federal Election Commission.

The state's Fair Political Practices Commission reported in April that state and legislative candidates had directly raised more than $1 billion since 2001, despite campaign contribution limits. That amount equates to raising $14,354 an hour, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

So doing something unethical is OK as long as its only in the tens of thousands of dollars?

Not at all. What is unethical about buying books that have historical value (the first sitting BLACK president born from an IMMIGRANT father)?

Absolutely nothing.

Considering that Obama became a historical figure in this country the day he was voted in. Historical writings are always purchased and circulated in libraries and such.

There is an underlying agenda here to try to say an untruth as usual.
