Josie . . . keep in mind as well that each state has diffent rules for marriage licenses some require up to a 7 day waiting period before the ceremony can be preformed. For example Flordia has a 3 day wait for residents but non residents can get married the same day. . Its also one of the only states that a Notary Republic can marry you. Most states it has to be an ordained minister or a Justic of the Peace. So right and so are the laws regarding property and all sorts of rights and responsibilities. The idea of community property sucks to me since I worked my tushy off to have what I have and not eager to hand half over If after one day the whole thing goes down the crapper. Not all states honor prenups. Or the rules about medical stuff in some states where I could remain bound to someone who decided to induce their own disability (drug abuse, contracting STD;s cheating) and make me responsibile for them with little or no chance for divorce or retaining any property paying for catesrophic medical bills. Or rules that mean I end up having to deal with adult children that may not darken the door until illness or death occur and they come get their "take". Having done hospice I have seen the good, the bad, and the real bad in families and it can be kind of chilling when it comes to sticking your neck out. |

Well, first pick a place you can also make it your honeymoon, haha. California is always awesome...wine country, santa barbara area, corona del mar, ca (newport beach) is famous for beachside weddings and its free. only the photographer would need a photo permit unless its a relative. its on the beach near the tidepools, surrounded by beautiful cliffs.

Back on topic; If you would like a nice private wedding you might like to contact your State Park system and rent some cabins and do something small scale but romatic. They usually have event planners that can do something simple but memorable.

ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR MIND? ...or just tired of all the sex already? Dude, what actual benefits come with documented marriage except a huge tax rate on secondary income? Shake the man's hand. Look him in the eye and mean it when you say "I will love you with everything that I am, with every breath I take, for every day I have left"... If that ain't good enough...f*@k em. HUH ![]() But I want to be married. i don't know why I do but I do.. Hmmmm, maybe because I grew up being told if you are good enough to sleep with you are good enough to marry, and i am just not that comfortable with sleeping with someone who I am not married to.. Yep i am old fashioned. Plus my children don;t like the idea of me sleeping or living with someone who i am not married too. Ok I have probably just opened myself up to lots of comments about stuff but thats me, And its not actually the piece of paper it's commiting myself before God, and I guess that I want to say this is my Husband, not this is my partner , boyfriend or whatever.. anway thats just my preference. Bummer doesnt even sound like good reasons when I read it to myself.. And why can't I still have sex ![]() |

Yea the traditional stuff kind of hangs me up too. And if you have kids you definitely want to protect your rights and theirs.
To me making the vows publiclly with a minister covers the God thing for me. Which I do take seriously. |

With Economy so depressed you might want to check into a time share. Many are actually lowering their rates and bending over backwards to add inducements for guests to pay for use. Just don't do anything sight unseen. Some places can turn out to be VERY rustic and you don't want to be huddleing in a cold cabin no heat trying to get into your wedding dress. Or snowed out with no refund. Definitely read the fine print.

I think the most beautiful wedding I ever went to was in the winter in Hazard Kentucky Holiday Inn. Being off season they went all out decorateing for a Stars and White theme and the guests did not mind one bit holeing up in the heated pool and eating delish food between walks in the snow and sleigh rides.

The Wayfarer's Chapel in Palos Verdes, CA. Of course if you want something real off beat, Sedonna Arizona. Then there is always Monterrey California. If you want a real odd place to do it, Macchu Pichu Peru! I like the name. Almost as funny as Lake Titticaca Peru! Also there is Hawaii or Mexico! Yes! and what is the name of that Chapel that is built right into the beautiful red rock in Sedona?? [/quote Chapel of the Holy Cross and its absolutely beautiful there... One of my favorite places.. (My ashes are going there... ![]() ![]() |

The mental image of three sons with Shotguns makes me think of Vintage wedding dresses. You would have the perfect shape for a Confederate Style dress. The antique military uniforms and swords would be sort of fairytale romantic. Something the sons could get into.
