Ron Paul loyalists have been vindicated. After months of observations that the mainstream media was ignoring the libertarian standard-bearer, a new study by the Pew Research Center's Project for Excellence in Journalism shows just that: the Texas Congressman, who has consistently polled in the high single digits -- Real Clear Politics's aggregate poll currently has him at 8 percent -- has received the least overall coverage of any candidate. From May 2 to October 9, Paul appeared as the "primary newsmaker in only 2% of all election stories."

considering the minuscule 2% amount of media coverage he gets, I'd say it's not bad. Another strange thing is, when he says he's going to vote a certain way, he always does. Can any other candidate claim that?

It's clear the media is simply trying to provide us the best politicians "money can buy"!

An "HONEST" politician would topple the gravy train!

LOL the high single digits are of those polled, but does all his supporters involve themselves in polls?? Many have noticed the media lackout of Ron Paul.

Ron has been making it into the top 4 in most straw polls, including first place in the Values Voters poll. By any traditional measure, he is a "top tier" candidate. smokin glasses

This is no different than last time.

I think its a little different than last time mainly due to the fact that people got a glimse of him last time and heard what happened last time. I think people are paying just a bit more attention to him this time.

Nobody wants to hear his racist lunatic talk. That is why he is not covered. No one is requesting he be covered. He needs to get him a radio show like Limbaugh so he can be racist and disgusting on it.

Racist talk? What talk is that?

The one where he says everyone has a right to their own opinion and gov't shouldn't be allowed to pry/spy?

Maybe the one where he says we ought to get gov't out of our business except to defend our liberties?

Yep! That's shear lunacy to think people should have a right to be free and enjoy liberty.

Ron Paul's Skeleton Closet

Ron Paul is the big surprise of the 1998 election, mostly because he's the true maverick McCain wishes he were. That also means he gets very little press attention, good or bad. Which means we don't have that much dirt on him (yet). But with your help....

Quotes

"If you have ever been robbed by a black teen-aged male, you know how unbelievably fleet-footed they can be." - Ron Paul, 1992

"Given the inefficiencies of what D.C. laughingly calls the `criminal justice system,' I think we can safely assume that 95 percent of the black males in that city are semi-criminal or entirely criminal." - Ron Paul, 1992

"We don't think a child of 13 should be held responsible as a man of 23. That's true for most people, but black males age 13 who have been raised on the streets and who have joined criminal gangs are as big, strong, tough, scary and culpable as any adult and should be treated as such." - Ron Paul, 1992

"What else do we need to know about the political establishment than that it refuses to discuss the crimes that terrify Americans on grounds that doing so is racist? Why isn't that true of complex embezzling, which is 100 percent white and Asian?" - Ron Paul, 1992
Racist Newsletter

Since 1985, Ron Paul has published a newsletter, first called the Ron Paul Political Report (and since renamed the Ron Paul Survival Report.)

In 1992, the newsletter published a bunch of inflammatory comments on racial subjects, listed in the Quotes section of this page. Pretty raw stuff.

In 2001, as Paul moved to the mainstream and rejoined the Republican party, he disavowed these comments and blamed them on an unnamed ghostwriter. But when Paul ran for Congress in 1996, as a Libertarian, his opponent brought these up to show that Paul had fringe ideas. At that time, Paul told the Houston Chronicle that he opposed racism and his commentaries about blacks came in the context of "current events and statistical reports of the time." In other words, he didn't deny writing the Ron Paul column in the Ron Paul newsletter, profits of which go to Ron Paul, until many years later. Then he claimed that his campaign aides thought it would be "too confusing" to tell the truth, so he had to lie and accept responsibility.

Whichever story is true, he's clearly responsible for the contents of that newsletter and pretty squirrelly about the whole thing.

Sources
"Newsletter excerpts offer ammunition to Paul's opponent ", by Alan Bernstein, Houston Chronicle, May 23, 2006
"Ron Paul Race Smear Erased?", Free Market News, May 22, 2007. I have no idea if this is a credible source-- the piece is obviously slanted in a very pro-Ron-Paul way -- but the quotes are still interesting. Take it with a grain of salt.

Racist and promoting racism at the least if we believed his ghostwriter lie.

I read these slurs. I also read where they were (for the most part) found to be propoganda and unsubstantiated, taken out of context, or just plain lies and an attempt (which seems to have worked somewhat) to discredit him..... all which have failed.... (again, for the most part).

If I ran a media outlet and the man was even associated with half of what he is (racism) I wouldn't want him on my media either. Who knows what the lunatic might say that might get me sued.

Ron Paul has consistently been holding a 3rd place position in the polls but has been given a grand total of 18:47 in the previous 3 debates. His speaking time is dead last even behind those he has been beating for months.
