Topic: The Tea Party Has a Problem

It’s not been an easy month for the tea party. Take the GOP primary: they’re losing it. “The Tea Party movement was fueled by opposition to the Wall Street bailouts, President Obama’s health care reform legislation and out-of-control spending in Washington,” writes Phil Klein at the conservative Washington Examiner. “Yet the current favorite to win the Republican nomination has rejected the Tea Party line on all of these issues.” . . . The tea party is really, really unpopular. One of the least popular political forces in American life, actually. Dave Weigel notes that the latest Time magazine poll found that only 27 percent of Americans have a favorable view of the tea party, while 54 percent approve of Occupy Wall Street. Ouch. But it’s par for the course. The tea party posts lower favorability numbers than President Obama (44 percent), the Democratic Party (44 percent) or the Republican Party (39 percent). . . And I imagine that’s one reason the tea party isn’t proving more effective in the Republican Primary. The Republican Party establishment, which wants to win elections, has made a point of kneecapping tea party candidates like Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, and to some degree, even Rick Perry. You can see the same process beginning now against Herman Cain. Similarly, if the Republican leadership thought a tea party-populism was a smart political strategy, they would be moving more forcefully to implement it. . . .
the closer the Republican Party gets to the general election, and the more they’re focused on beating Obama than saving their own skins, the more they’re likely to do to distance themselves from the tea party’s increasingly toxic branding.

The Tea Party lost favor by allowing republicans in. If they had immediately thrown Palin then the others out they would be rockin the polls right now.

Then, why didn't they do that?

If I were you I would be praying to some statue begging the gods for a tea party candidate.

That is the only way Obama has a prayer of winning.

the other way is the pubs ask cain to step back once momentum gets going and one of their loons actually has to have a face to face debate (let alone three) on real issues with the president

or , Cain himself, will have to have those debates,,,,

The "Original" grassroots tea party was hijacked by "Faux Networks" as it was gaining ground. The reason it is now in shambles is because it was hijacked to fail (like a scapegoat to a crime) by Faux Networks.

The REAL grassroots movement is alive and well, dispite the hijacking!

You'd think after the last election, they would have realized Palin was a mistake.

Tea party was set to implode from incept. Most of the party members were cutting themselves off at the legs with the philosophies they were pushing.

The only ones who did benefit from those philosophies were the Koch brothers and the other millionaire backers to the movement that used poor folks to further their agenda.

yes, yes he does

Ive seen several (non teleprompter) interviews he has had one on one with hosts and commentators , let alone with the internet community AND town halls (two of which I have been to IN PERSON)

so,, yeah, he does real well WITHOUT a teleprompter,,,

and in the debates, one on one, against another candidate, he also does well (better than I think Cain will do when it gets DOWN to the presidential issues, as opposed to the why he is the best 'republican' for the job,,issue)

Because its not an organized party and now it will just be an extension of the republican party. Hopefully the ultra conservatives who hi-jacked it will bring all their friends over leaving moderate republicans to take control of the republican party. Hey, this might have a silver lining after alldrinker

You can tell when the teleprompter goes out because he gets all candid and changes his demeanor and vocal tone.

lol,nice diversion

so the topic has changed from whether he speaks well with or without a teleprompter to whether he has accomplished all his 'promises'?

I will concede that he joins the rank of EVERY PRESIDENT before him who has not completed all his 'promises' (name one president who has)

but he still is not in the same group as many politicians and candidates who dont or didnt know how to 'speak'
