So i have a decent windows smartphone and i have loaded it up with cool stuff (even emulators for playing nes and snes games) but ive noticed that android has just about already blown away windows mobile os.

The iphones and the android smartphones already have better apps availible.

So i wonder is microsoft stupid or are they scared to innovate because of the pressure they have gotten from the government in the past so they purposly aren't trying to complete?

What are your thoughts?

Microsoft and Apple have agreements between them about who will dominate for how long before the other "Improves." Apple computers have gone through their era of being called MacIntrash. For example was their hidden recall of 1999 era ProBook computers. You had to find out for yourself they had a recall issue after Apple was sued over product quality and support. Nothing like spending $2500 OR MORE dollars on a Apple Laptop computer only to have the screen go black after three months due to a faulty Video Graphics Driver on the main logic board (Price for a new Logic Board, $650 smackers PLUS LABOR!!!) I know someone who bought one of these adn it had to be sent back and took 6 WEEKS to get it back from Apple after a host of phone calls and bringing up the recall they were sued over twice to tech support. After wasting about two hours of my life on the phone with them they relented and gave me an RMA and an address, and it had to be sent back in original packaging or warranty VOID! Thankfully my words of NEVER THROW AWAY PRODUCT CASE OF HIGH END CONSUMER ELECTRONICS FOR THE LENGTH OF THE WARRANTY went heeded!

Now where Apple and Microsoft see things. To Microsoft a Phone is a Phone. To Apple a phone should do what a laptop does. There are pros and cons to both. I do not want an Android. To me a communications device like a phone should be kept dumb to a certain level. The last thing I need is to be able to watch movies while I am working certain jobs especially involving the use of power tools. Likewise people's phones have gotten them fired for being to preoccupied with a app or game and getting busted at work. Some people MUST have information access all the time and a "Smart Phone" makes sense to them but it is a tool not meant for everyone.

Now for where Apple and Microsoft see things market wise...

Apple caters to people who have no real deep understanding or intimate knowlege of actual data use as far as specific APPLICATIONS (Software) go. Apple computer users (and likewise iPhone, Android, and other flavors of Smart Phones) tend to like a machine that "Does it all" but does so with sacrifices in actual richness or depth of application, although some applications on say Ubuntu Linux do offer powerful graphics handling. There are still serious limitations to the application a power user like say someone who does high end graphics needs from their software and can't get.

Windows caters more to power users. You buy software to add to your machine as needed offering a machine more tailored to the user. When you spend $600 to $800 dollars on a graphics program (Like Adobe Premier) you are getting a complete fully featured software without needing to buy Modules for software that was supposed to do it all in the first place.

Apples are like car buyers. Some want to go into a dealership and drive off the lot with their car. Apple Computers.

Then you have those who want to build theircar to their tastes. Windows Computer.

Another difference is adding software to your system. Windows has a greater compatability with available software than Apple/ Mac does. Also there is adding hardware between Windows and Apples. Apple is horrid for Computer upgrades like add on hardware components to a computer.

Also in the business of tecvhnology sometimes it is better to watch for a little while where tech goes because technology tends to have tangents that go dead end on people (Zune!!! Creative blew it on that ONE!). Microsoft mag very well be laying in wait to see if Apple is even worth pursuing. They are not out to push each other out of business. Theyu do however try to find niche trends.

I know there are people trying to work linux to operate Smart Phones and when they do you will have the third flavor of computer/ information user, The HARD CORE GEEK! These are people who actually make their own apps and tweak their OS to optimize it to their custom machines. They are the race car drivers of the information age!

Yikes, My fingers need air!surprised

"Microsoft and Apple have agreements between them about who will dominate for how long before the other "Improves." "

So like a strategic truce.

Definatly curious to see what happens with the linux smartphones though!

There is alot of aging computer hardware that can still do alot, especially with an os like linux...
