Someone mentioned there are hardly positive threads on our President, so IM starting one.

I have no final decision as to who I will vote for in 2012, until I see the final candidates and can observe them in action and on the spot during the debates. But these are some things that cause me to still support this President, despite failures he has seen during this term. For me, he has had more successes than anything else and his efforts have been towards those things that caused me to vote for him in the first place (even whey they have been stopped or reversed by the rest of government,,ie,,,congress)

1. Held Bp responsible for the spill as opposed to APOLOGIZING to them.

2. Increased funding for firemen and police and helped save jobs.

3. Rate of job LOSS in the US has greatly decreased.

4. Launched investigatin of Blue Cross after extreme price hikes.

5. Investigated BP after the oil spill.

6. Stopped the practice of credit card companies of increasing rates based off of debts to other creditors.

7. Increased pell grant funding.

8. Tax cuts to 95 percent of working americans.

9. Fraud enforcement act to investigate fraud in home lending.

10. Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act

11. Good riddance to Osama Bin Laden.

12. START treaty

13. Support in Bringing down Ghaddafi with no american casualties.

14. lower taxes than EVER in my lifetime

15. Increased information available online at white house site

16. Limited salary of white house aides.

17. Attempting to close GItmo

18. Funded armor and mine resistant vehicles for the military

19. No more 'no bid' defense contracts(sorry haliburton)

20. Families of Fallen Heroes Act

21. Authorized numerous discussions and operations to have americans freed from foreign land or foreign captives.(N Korea, Somali)

21. Continues authorizing funds to Israel, even ahead of schedule
(IM ON THE WALL ABOUT THIS ONE)

22. Saved the auto industry/jobs

23. Cash for Clunkers program

24. Exec order NOT to use federal funds for abortion services

25. HEALTH CARE REFORM

26. Signed legislation making violence against Homosexuals a FEDERAL CRIME.

27. Fair Sentencing Act to lessen disparity between sentencing of certain drug users and others

Im still in his corner, unless there comes to the front a 'better' candidate.

Damx! He's doing a better job than I thought. Not my idea of a "failed" President.

mine either, but I understand its very subjective based upon what is priority to the voter in question

many expected hope and change to include a complete turn around of the economy and job outlook

to them, he will be a fail,,,

I find number 26 to be kind of BS. So if a guy does violent crime to me its less of a crime because I am straight? Where is equality under the law?

Number 18 was going on before he took office not sure if that really counts.

IT deters crime based upon someones sexual preference, hopefully

I am not sure if there are that many crimes that occur because someone was 'straight'...

I have set through a firefighter/conservationist camp meeting where a group openly stated they were going into town to bash some gays,,,

I think that is probably more an issue than people out to bash themself some straight folks...

i'm gunna stay out of this for a while, because most of those are half truths...and half are meaningless to the common person...

but you did leave a couple off, like the way banks cannot use bad practices to charge overdrafts on debit cards anymore, and made it easier for everyone to go to college...

What about people that get beaten for displaying a rebel flag.....would you consider that a hate crime??

Not to mention #16, some if his staff members make more moeny then previous Presidential staff members.

Oh and the START treaty is a joke which opened us up to not being able to defend ourselves properly and anyone with MILITARY experience would have known that.

Or because they are black.....or because they are white....or because they are mormon....or because they are jewish.....there are many more hate crimes that happen....or they are female.....hate is hate no matter what it is for IMO

I am on the fence on hate crimes to be honest

but the way I understand it is that it is to protect people from attacks they may suffer due to things they are not in control of, or things they were born as

like attacked for gender, or for race, or now, for sexual preference

waving a flag is not someting I consider out of someones control, its a pretty conscious choice and would fall in with other ignorant crimes that happen because someone disapproves of what someone else believes or does....

I guess maybe not ANYONE, just some as is expected on any issue:

There are nine living people who have served as Secretary of State: Henry Kissinger, George Shultz, James Baker, Lawrence Eagleburger, Warren Christopher, Madeleine Albright, Colin Powell, Condoleezza Rice and Hillary Clinton.

Clinton, the current secretary of state, has backed the treaty in repeated public statements and praised its eventual ratification.

Kissinger, Shultz, Baker, Eagleburger and Powell, all of whom served Republican presidents, endorsed the treaty in a Dec. 2, 2010 editorial in The Washington Post.

Condoleezza Rice, who served under Republican George W. Bush, backed the treaty in a Dec. 7, 2010 editorial in The Wall Street Journal, though she noted her endorsement carried caveats. She said approval should be accompanied by spending to modernize the U.S. nuclear arsenal and that the treaty should not establish a link between offensive weapons and missile defense systems.

Madeleine Albright backed the treaty in a separate editorial in The Washington Post. And Warren Christopher’s support was noted in a November statement released by the office of Vice President Joe Biden.

That means every living secretary of state endorsed the treaty. What about at the Defense Department?

When the agreement was announced in March 2010, Secretary of Defense Robert Gates said the treaty would "strengthen nuclear stability" and that he would work with Congress to ensure ratification.

Admiral Michael Mullen, Chairman of the Join Chiefs of Staff, said "I, the Vice Chairman, and the Joint Chiefs, as well as our combatant commanders around the world, stand solidly behind this new treaty, having had the opportunity to provide our counsel, to make our recommendations, and to help shape the final agreements."

Meh really means jack, no matter who's in office we still get the shaft, been that way for YEARS. I don't see it changing now unless we force it to. But as long as keep voting the same corrupt people in, nothing will change.

That isn't what happened. Bush would have confirmed the order to kill as soon as the identity was confirmed... or maybe bombed the whole compound. But all the steps to find Obama were put in place by Bush, not Obama.

Oh. And BTW MissHarmony, the chances of you not voting for Obama are zero and you know it.laugh

Hate is hate. People may not choose to be gay but they choose to be open about it. People can hide being gay but can't hide skin color or gender.

So how is it different for anyone else to not hide something they are passionate about?
