Contagious gayness, democrats pushing agendas, teachers having influence superseding that of the child's parents....don't think so...Children are easily influenced by opinions and conditions outside the framework of their home environment only when that framework brakes down...i.e. parenting skills...I think that is the crux of the problem with todays youth, too many of them are raising themselves! .... glasses

children are influenced regardless of 'breakdowns' in the home

authority figures, educational figures, as well as peers are trusted to be knowledgable and their knowledge infallible, when it comes to children

this doesnt mean many homes arent broken, but the answer for a village raising a child does not simply lie on parents shoulders

parents can do everything they can and still have outside influences find a childs weakness (and every human has them, including children) and prey on it,,,

considering that the battle is with bullying in the schools right now and identifying any and all bullying material and making a point to address will definitely put the message out that it is not okay in schools.

So yea it was a wise choice by the teacher and hopefully the child learned his lesson.

the lesson learned may have been to shut up and get in line,, in other words, dont have opinions about topics TEACHERS introduce to them,,,,

not a good lesson, in my opinion,,,

Yes agree Harmony, school is for academics, not to teach moral values, not to suppress, not for raising children...My child, I will raise my child....In fairness, teachers are only "part" of the problem...How did it happen, the breakdown in our school system?? Bureaucratic BS???...Lack of funds?.....Frozen salaries??..Unlimited access to the wrong information??...Children running wild, with no supervision at home, no nurturing???...All this and more......

yes, all this and more

in this case, the teacher seemed more interested in enforcing one opinion than they did TEACHING the history of the topic,,,

I have a paraeducation degree, for whatever it is worth, and I would take the students statement as an opportunity to teach(teach the proper way and proper place to share those opinions) as opposed to blowing it up into more than what it was and punishing the child for their belief

they are teaching kids to not think for themselves, and to not have any opinions on anything...i blame the democrats for this

Sillyness!

Ya can't blame an entire party for one inncident.

I don't label myself a democrat, others have
and I have the most free thinking children I know....really!

This teacher needs to be sent to the principal's office for a chat!

For real wtfslaphead

Considering all the bullying happening, this was a safe jerk reaction to possibly stop bullying later.

I still support the teacher on this one.

Keep those views at home where the hatemongering can happen privately and no one ends up bullied over the ridiculousness of the view at school.

It is the bullies who have made this an issue not the teachers. Bullies who are taught intolerance at home and bring it to school so the teachers have to deal with it.

There was no evidence of THIS boy being a bully or bullying anyone,, the punishment EXCEEDED the offense, and the teacher passed up an opportunity to have open and respectful discussion about a topic that the TEACHER brought to the class(not the student)
