I wouldnt expect it to go far unless they can get him on 'perjury' I think the only reason it wouldn't go far is cause of connections. The big name people in politics generally are able to get away with anything they want to, and by and large over the years have. I think that time of protection may be coming to an end though, if this is any indication. Least I hope so, cause it's far past time these criminals get what they so richly deserve. |

Connections may be one reason,,the other is that the 'evidence' mentioned here is pretty slim
a reference to 'standing' doesnt imply an order to chain them to ceilings unless they have something signed by Rumsfield ordering extreme torture, I doubt they have a case there is also what I call the Jack Bauer element, that in the case of ACTUAL TERRORISTS where significant results were obtained, there may be precedent to actually justify some of the tactics uses war is hell, after all this is one IM on the fence on but if we justify the death penalty, even though innocent people have been sentenced we can probably justify getting a few wrong when trying to intervene in 'terrorist' plots |

Those in power will pretty much justify anything if it means they can get away with it. They've done it over and over again. They'll always try and find some way around the evils they commit. And there will likely always be some people who will even believe them. However the number of those that don't is beginning to grow, and I think they know it and know their time may be running short.
Notice how some of them aren't even traveling to certain places now or are canceling trips as Bush just did with a Toronto engagement recently. That doesn't seem like a man who has nothing to hide, but rather a man who is guilty and knows it. |

I don't think the evidence is that slim either, it seems to be pretty heavily documented as to some of the things that went on under their watch. And note this:
"Rumsfeld resigned days before a criminal complaint was filed in Germany in which the American general who commanded the military police battalion at Abu Ghraib had promised to testify." Funny the timing no? Again it strikes me as the actions of a guilty man trying to avoid being exposed. |
