Bernie Sanders on U.S. economy: It’s a horror show Posted on 09.14.11 By Eric W. Dolan Categories: Biz/Money, Featured Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) appeared Wednesday on MSNBC to discuss the U.S. Census Bureau’s annual report on poverty, where he described the report as a “horror show.” The report found that 46.2 million Americans were living in poverty, the highest amount since the Census began recording the statistic 52 years ago. “The middle class is collapsing and we have now by far the most unequal distribution of wealth and income of any major country on earth,” Sanders said. “We need aggressive action on the part of the president and the Congress, and if the Republicans continue to say ‘no, no, no to jobs,’ the president has got to continue going around the country,” he added, “because I think the overwhelming majority of the people want a jobs program, they want to protect Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid, they do not want to give any more tax breaks to the wealthy and large corporations.” Watch video, courtesy of MSNBC, below: http://www.rawstory.com/rawreplay/2011/09/bernie-sanders-on-u-s-economy-its-a-horror-show/ I hope the Repubs are listening. It is getting too ridiculous not to. |

I think jobs and education are important priorities. One in four americans is now under 18. Leaving them with the current educational deficits is going to mean our future leaders are going to be far behind in the world (as our children are in their education),,,and taking the country right along with them
people are too disinterested in the big picture and what happens beyond their own immediate environment....the children being neglected because they 'arent our children' are going to be the ones running 'our' country into the ground further down the road the ones making decisions for us when we become 'the elderly' and beyond,,, |

Not just the younger folks are in need of jobs though.
I think the younger generation that is not under the influence of a religion and has enough education will be fine and they will do well with our country. They will be better than what we are dealing with politically now including Obama. |

They will be better than what we are dealing with politically now including Obama. I dont think religion has anything to do with it really. The secular values are probably doing more to dumb down the kids than any other values, but the point is EDUCATION , regardless of religion. And education is so tied into financial status as well as quality of education, that far too many of our young kids are being left behind. And too many that arent left behind, just dont care about education because society has filled their heads with too much other garbage to distract them from any productive goals. |

Why do you think they call it a protestant work ethic.....because religious people actually have a strong work ethic.....the secular environment doesn't always teach the ethics that religion does....
