I was just wondering if any other parents have kids leaving for college soon? I am getting ready to send my first son off to college and I am starting to feel a little bit sad. Sure, I am glad that he wants to get his education...but its sad knowing that he will be gone!!
Then theres the worry about him drinking instead of studying...uggg is this normal to worry about this kind of stuff? |

When I went to college, I already had my children....so I didn't live at the college. He is going to be living there and I am sure having all kinds of fun! Well, I hope not to much fun!! I am sure that he will be dating more...thats a worry also.

He'll be back to visit home. Is the college out-of-state?
You know what works when trying to keep kids focused. When parents threaten taking away their rights or priveledges. Examples- If you flunk out of school you will have to work a full-time job to pay for your own college until you take school seriously. My dad did this and it worked! He also mentioned I would have to enroll in a community college (which isn't bad) or join military instead. If you flunk, you will have to pay your own cell phone bill. |

ive tried to encourage my son to go to college out of state, thinking it would be a great experience but he decided to go to a community college then transfer to a university here in so. cal. your son might be gone for a while doing what he needs to do, and you two will miss eachother, but he definetly will be back and it will feel like he never left. thank God our boys are in college and not in iraq! hang in there mom

He is going here in Indiana...about 90 minutes away, yep not to far away. I agree with you dodgers...he could be in Iraq, thank God hes not!!
I know he will do good in school because he really wants this, I do pay his cell phone bill and never once made that threat to him. My brother did talk to him and told him for every A he gets he will send him money though....thats just to really get him to make the Deans List, I did it and my son is smarter then I am! We just want him to suceed at everything he does and not blow this chance that he is given. Haha thanks BigSexy...you make me feel so much better!! |

Not for a couple of years...They are in grade 11...twins and then I will be sending them both off...I can't say that it doesnt worry me already though...Hey we are mothers...I tend to think it's normal to always worry about your kids no matter what!!!!

I feel like he will be fine! I know him and know that you are a wonderful mother. I think he will party a little bit, but he is a good kid that loves you very much. He will remember why he is there before the partying gets out of hand. Best of luck to both of you!
