I lived there in the mid 90s so my info is old. The temp ran 55 to 85 all year round. It rained the year I was there but it is supposed to not rain.

You will hear it referred to as Sun Diego. The beach water is cold but the sand is warm. Nice mall in downtown. Transit passes were $50 a month when I was there, $25 if you were a student. Good public transit.

As a touristy town, it has plenty of local attractions (specialty restaurants, sand sculpting exhibits, etc).

What else would you like to know. I lived in El Cajon part of San Diego, rent was not too high, groceries/gas are. Good luck in your studies. I doubt anybody speaks Portugese.

Just spent a week in San Diego and REALLY enjoyed it.

The Mass Transit system is excellent, even for those who are impaired, Parking is expensive. I would not see it as a bike friendly city from my limited exposure.

Free press is good for tuning you in on what's going on in the community. Visitors centers scattered all over the city. News stations in multiple languages. Certainly plenty of things for young people to enjoy.

PeTco stadium was awesome.

Houseing is according to everyone I talked to very expensive and takes a good rental record. Many are doubled up with families and if room mates listing are any indication it is a necessity to share. And, if the homeless that seems to be all over the city are any indication you REALLY don't want to be unprepared.

I saw NO help wanted signs anywhere so being a working student may be a challenge. Useing your colleges student services could be helpful. But there is severe shortages of any kind of publiclly funded programs. Evidenced by huge turnouts for essential health services at neighborhood fairs.

San Diego is definitely a bilingual sommunity so I would recommend adding basic phrases in Spanish to your vocabulary especially if you want to work in the service industry and tourism.

It's my favorite Cali city. I go there all the time. Best Mexican and seafood food in the states in my book. Weather reminds me of Salvador, maybe even a little cooler. If you go a little inland it gets more dry and temps go up. Over all expect a high end city, friendly people, and tons to do.

Well, there is a population that speak Portuguese in San Diego. Come out to Point Loma. I know, I went there for a festival there. I forgot when though, I read it off the reader and swing down to Point Loma and feel the international culture down there.
