A caller on left wing talk radio raised an interesting point today. He said that the KKK tends to raise its ugly head every 20 or thirty years, and that it's about time to see that mentality again. Here's the quick story.

A House Republican apologized to President Obama for saying that being associated with Obama's policies would be like "touching a tar baby."

Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colo., made the remark last week to a Denver radio show. Lamborn told KKTV on Monday night that the phrase, to some people, is a racial epithet.

Lamborn's office issued a statement last night saying the congressman was trying to explain that Obama's policies "have created an economic quagmire for the nation and are responsible for the dismal economic conditions our country faces."

"He regrets that he chose the phrase 'tar baby,' rather than the word 'quagmire.' The congressman is confident that the president will accept his heartfelt apology," the statement from Lamborn's office said.

In the Merriam-Webster dictionary, tar baby is defined as "something from which it is nearly impossible to extricate oneself." The term's origin comes from a doll made of tar and turpentine that's used to entrap a character in the Uncle Remus stories. Over the years, the term has come to be viewed as derogatory term for African Americans.

Lamborn, first elected in 2006, is known in Washington for his fight to end federal funding of NPR.

The election season is quickly approaching. It is time for the left wing to pull out the race card.

It is going to be very, very difficult to run on what has been a complete and total disaster of a presidency.

I can't wait until Obama has to defend the $6 trillion dollar debt he will have added in just 4 years.

It took Bush 8 years to add $5 trillion.

I think the leftist circles should be talking about getting the life boats ready because the ship is sinking fast.

I can't wait for the Rebublican candidate to run on a platform featuring a totally empty record of proposals or policies designed to benefit the lower 98% of the American populace. I hope it's a Romney/Bachman.

People have short memories, but I certainly remember what happened when Republicans overplayed their hand in the 90s. Newt Gingrich? He has become a national laughing stock.

speaking of short memories, bush and obama are just about even on the lying, spending, wars and broken promises( i think obama is beating bush there) and the liberals won't even see this....

debt during clintons last FISCAL year (october 2001)5.8 trillion
debt during Bushes last FISCAL year (october 2009) 11.9 Trillion
+ 357 billion interest =12.57 trillion

= 6.8(approximatlely) trill in five years
- 36 billion obama stimulas

= 6.74 trill in eight years (roughly .85 trill /year)

12.57 trillion debt on october 2009
until today 14.5 trill

= 2 trillion in 2 years (- 2 months)

roughly 1.09 trill per year

,,,the rates dont differ significantly when averaged,,,

people dont account for the actual BUDGET and the fact it runs from september through october (not january when the presidents take office)

,,,,,,,Bushs achilles heel was trying to pay for a war
OBamas is trying to pay for economic recovery resulting from a combination of policies(prior AND present)

the english language is incredible

I will give him the benefit that he meant it by the non offensive definition instead of the racial slur

just as I give Farrakhan the benefit of using the non comparative definition of the word 'great' when he says Hitler was a 'great' man.....

Did this Congress say something he shouldn't have? Probably.

Is he racist because of it? Nope.

I refer to a lot of people as my boy or your boy but if I said it about Obama I would be called a racist, go figure.

and here is where CONTEXT comes to play

some people will scream racism at everything, others refuse to see it in anything, ,there are all types of extremes

if 'my boy' is something one says regardless of race, than I would consider the context very highly slang and very unlikely to be racist

if 'my boy' is only used towards one race, I would have to consider that it had a racist context

same thing with 'my (n word_), if its used on people from all backgrounds, its highly unlikely it is racist

if its only used when the subject is of a certain race, than it is highly likely to be racist

..'my' can imply taking ownership(superiority) over someone or it can imply taking 'credit' for someone or something

its totally different to call someone 'my dog' than it is to call them 'a dog'

....the english language is incredible and I try to pay attention to context whenever someone communicates,, I was taught to in kindergarten although the very concept of 'context' and how it changes the meaning of words is lost on many people these days
