"Jeopardy" host Alex Trebek injured himself early Wednesday while chasing after a burglar at a San Francisco hotel, KGO-TV reported.

The TV veteran, 71, revealed the dramatic confrontation as he hosted a geography quiz hours later on crutches.

He told audience members at the National Geographic World Championship, held at the Mountainview, Calif., headquarters of tech giant Google, that he encountered the crook at 2:30am local time.

As he raced after him Trebek said his Achilles tendon suddenly snapped. He then fell to the floor, hurting his other leg in the process.

Despite his injuries, Trebek insisted he was OK.

He did not explain exactly how he came across the burglar, or whether the intruder was ultimately apprehended, KGO said.

Trebek has hosted the popular US game show "Jeopardy" for more than 25 years.

A seventy-one year old guy chasing a burglar at a hotel?

I'll take "stupidity" for $1,000 Alex.

The guy has balls, he did the right thing. Burglars are generally cowards anyways. Its the home invasion suspects that are the dangerous ones.
