I think it's wise to have a couple of threads about her. I would hate to see the abuse thread be tangled up with the music thread too much. What a voice and style. Drugs destroyed her life so fast. Boy do I ever know a lot of people like this. It just gives me bad chills thinking about it honestly.

I know a ton of users and I love them so much but honestly I have only seen maybe a couple of handfuls of them not have tragedy as a result. It breaks my heart to see life stripped from a soul like that. In talking to my friends most of them have confessed to me that they just like being stoned as in an altered state and that to me is terrifying.

I just pray that users be safe and realize when they are going too far cause it does fool most into a defensive posture many times. We all have seen this. Amy's defenses were not up any higher than a lot of my friends would be. Sometimes there's a "I don't care what you are saying" aloofness that comes with being a partier and being "cool".

So party on if that is your thing but please be careful and put yourself in check with someone who is not a user cause another user is usually going to defend the use and you need a balance. I don't mean to sound like a dad here I just hate losing friends to this.

Until this thread I had never heard of her.

Yep drugs are bad. I never used them. I don't smoke either. I used to drink a little, but it made me have a bad hang over and that did not feel good. Logic caused me to decide to quit. Three days of feeling like crap was not worth one night of an altered consciousness.

My little brother was a severe alcoholic. He also did crank. He had an injury and major back surgery and was put on tons of prescription drugs for pain. He over did his medication and died of an over dose.

hope she's at peace now, and i hope she's kicking back smoking some sweet herb!! r.i.p.

Ummmmmm, it was Crack\Coccaine that killed her and the Pot that led her there. Not to mention the serious health issuaes she developed with Pot leading the way. SHe had Emphasema from years of smoking both Pot and cigarette's and possibly had finsl stages of Lung Csncer.

Not to mention everytime she got clean she started back on drugs eachtime after smoking pot.

unless you knew her personally and can speak intelligently on her behalf, this is all just google fodder. pot is only a gateway drug for those looking for edges, to jump off. their issues started long before that joint...at that party. treat the person, make them accountable, not the plant.

We get it that you believe all that propaganda about pot being a gateway drug, but that has never been proven. Its just propaganda as far as I am concerned. A person predisposed to use drugs is going to try everything. That does not mean that pot leads to other drugs. It just means that they want to sample everything out there.

It's a shame, but maybe something good will come of her death. Maybe people will come to realize how dangerous Pot is. Being it was the first drug she ever did and was her gateway into harder drugs.

whaaaaat

pot is NOT a gateway

her problems are, were deeper than anyone will ever know

a beautiful young lady at peace now

I have no problem with people smoking saftly? I have no desire to offend.

I must say though for me and the people I hung out with and still know Pot was definitely without a doubt a gateway to harder drugs. When the pot made us plateaued we laced it. When that didn't take us there we started up the nose. When that wasn't fast enough....so on. Not one of my friends stopped at pot and that's a few hundred friends. They may have turned around and backed up but all of them took a few steps beyond pot. Many of them died of overdose. At least 3 of them just on pot committed suicide when high. Many of them including myself tripped as hard if not harder on pot than heroin. Tons of broken bones from doing things high we would not have done. Several deaths while high cause they didn't know how to function while doing things like hot air balloon accidents, car wrecks, drownings, electrocutions, tons more. Many of these friends became walking accidents (just on pot). Two of them shot their friend cause they wanted to see if it would hurt high on pot. And there are so many more shocking stories that just I have.

We might say well that stems from other problems not pot, but I have witnessed first hand that this is not so. I've seen quiet people go wild when smoking and others become non responsive. A few I have seen be able to function but most of my friends only thought they were functioning to the rest of us they were making a lot of mistakes.

In the studio they say people play better stoned. This is far from the truth. You might get 3 good hours out and then they are gone and the tracks are worthless except for jokes later when you get stoned again to laugh at. A straight musician will blow away a stoned one on the whole. I've seen the same guys play both ways and the difference is huge and they will tell you that when they are not stoned.

These are facts and have been experienced by me. Maybe others have seen another side but this is the side I saw and experienced.

I have no problem with partiers but the facts also need to be told.

I just see the covers on a daily basis at work and she was on them a lot for a while. You would have seen them to by the cash registers when you checked out.

My bestfriend didn't have ANY issues before Pot entered his life, and it ended up costing him his life.

Don't worry about who you offend, speak your mind.

You are right on the money here. I deal with junkies on a daily basis at work and when I asked them how they started out EVERYONE of them has said Pot. Over ten years and over one thousand suspect interviews later I am getting the same answers.

well i guess that makes you an expert on junkies then. go ask the millions of social pot smokers, who lead productive adult lives, and let me know how they respond before you go blaming pot for the choices people themselves make.

i've been around pot smokers all my life, i was married to a heroin addict, i've lost friends to alcoholism, i've lived with tragedy also, yet still, i know, given the same choices in life, i've made different ones for myself, as they could have. pot is not the culprit, and all the statistics in the world, skewed as you would have us believe by interviewing the extreme, is not going to change my mind that people are responsible for their actions, and their choices, period.

I think maybe what it comes down to is a lot of people know how to buzz responsibly and others have that addictive side that can't stop till they train wreck like Amy and some of our friends and family have. I wouldn't trade any of my friends straight or buzzed (including on mingle). But I do kind of look out for the buzzed ones with a little more caution cause I have that "be safe kids" thing built in to me. Yes, I'm the permanent designated driver.

I hope that anytime I talk about this up here that you guys only hear that I get concerned and don't wish to judge or put down. If I ever do offend anyone I'm deeply sorry. I do have a voice on the issue but it comes from caring.

it's a forum, people are supposed to say what they think... even tho i disagree, your life experiences might have went a different path to make you say these things. like you said, it depends on the person. People with addictive personalities shouldn't do any drugs, while others can handle it. A.W. was depressed to begin with, and the drugs amplified this depression and a combo of both lead to her death. i do think that saying it was pots fault is kind of narrow minded, but we all have our opinions...

mg.... you never offend me, if i come across like i'm offended, it's not so, i just believe in freedom of choice. even if i wasn't pro-marijuana, i'd still believe in freedom of choice to smoke it or not. flowerforyou
