True love for me is a selfless love. One which someone very seldom feels towards their loved ones.

We love our children because they are the fruits of our love with someone. But would we love them if they did not come from our own flesh?
We love our partners because we know they love us for all that we are. But would we love them if we know they do not have the inkling to love us back?
We love our friends because they have given us the reason to be friends with each other. But would we love them if they have not been friends to us?

True love is something we strongly feel towards other person without thinking anything about ourselves.

I dare anyone who says it is true love he/she feels for his/her loved one...

Love your posting!!

I've experienced it but I was on the receiving end. I don't know how she pulled it off to be honest but I enjoyed being her student.

My wife taught me so much about loving. Hopefully some of it rubbed off.

True love for me is a selfless love.

That IS love...anything else is a counterfeit version of love.

Love would not ask the things we ask of each other,
love has NO conditions, NO expectations and NO demands,
we do, love does not.

I like the description, Ladylid. Indeed, counterfeit version of love is what we may call it. flowerforyou

love is an emotion, it can be felt unconditionally

what people confuse as love, ie, willingness to stick around, willingness to suffer at the hands of another (emotionally or physically)

is what gets us into trouble

I still love all those who were once a part of my life, the emotion didnt change,, however I Did ask certain things of them out of love for MYSELF that were conditional, not to me loving them, but to me 'sticking' with them or continuing to include them in my life,,,,

This is what messed me up so bad after the last break up. I tried so many ways to show how I felt, but there was no reciprocation, only words. I was willing to cut off my right hand, and yet she could not fulfill just one simple request. She told me that she really did love me, but instead of listening, she pointed fingers. In the end, I realized that she didn't really know how to love. She did wasn't willing to put in the effort, to make the necessary sacrifices on her end....all I had was promises and non-answers.

And I broke the cardinal rule....I gave her $1300 which I will never see again. That was the only time I ever did that in a relationship.

Maybe I shouldn't have brought it up, but deep down, I felt manipulated and used, especially when I began being smeared in IMs and e-mails which no one saw.

Selflessness leaves you vulnerable, and I got stung.

yes, loving others sometimes means loving ourself enough to know if they are not the right one for us,,,

love is more than an emotion...it's a force of nature

the confusion comes when we think it's just an emotion...

Love is like a radioactive substance. Its DANGEROUS, better not to approach it or take it as slowly as you can.
