Southern Baptists Have Fewest Baptisms Since The 1950s And Are Losing Members Baptisms in the Southern Baptist Convention have reached a 60-year low. Last year, there were 332,321 baptisms in the church, which is 17,416 less than 2009. There was only one baptism for every 48 Southern Baptists in the country in 2010. Sixty years ago, there one baptism per every 19 church members. In eight out of 10 years, the number of baptisms performed have declined. Baptism statistics are an important measure of the church's vitality because -- unlike Catholics and other Protestants that baptize infants -- its members practice "believer's baptism," in which the person being baptized has to make an active choice to join the faith. The church's highest year of baptisms was 1972, when there was 445,725, but baptisms have largely plateaued since the 1950s. Church attendance and Sunday school enrollment have also declined, according to the report from Nashville-based LifeWay Christian Resources. Membership, currently 16.3-million, is down for the fourth year in a row. Donations to missionary work are down too. The denomination's International Mission Board received $145.6 million during its annual drive last year -- almost $30 million shy of its goal. The number of missionaries, which was 5,656 in 2009, dropped to 5,000 last year. It looks like people are finally waking up !!! :) |

Its everywhere seems so its passing indifference and has grown to outright attack on 'belief' systems,, especially God based,,, I debate it to keep my mind active, but emotionally, I am learning ot shrug it off as prophecy/destiny,,or whatever one wishes to call it |

moving.... and souls in droves are coming to Christ Jesus all across the world. Just because there are some dead churches where the holy spirit is not moving, doesn't mean that there aren't many churches still.... where GOD'S HOLY SPIRIT IS MOVING MIGHTILY!!! People are searching.....and religion itself isn't the answer. JESUS IS THE ANSWER. Go Find a church where JESUS IS BEING LIFTING UP....AND YOU WILL FIND AN ON FIRE FOR GOD CHURCH ...... WHERE THE POWER OF GOD IS MOVING MIGHTILY!! Jesus said, "IF I BE LIFTED UP, I WILL DRAW ALL MEN TO ME.". Notice...Jesus said ALL Men....... Are any of you aware of the revivals taking place in other countries...all across the world... where many many souls are coming to Christ Jesus ? There is coming a mighty outpouring of God's Holy Spirit.... we are just experiencing a trickle right now. (but know, so will the enemy of our souls be at work also...to try and decieve and draw away many if he can). God is surely not coming back for some milk toast weak christians..but for a people who Will be on fire for God !! AMEN.

Have u considered that thier will be a GREAT FALLING AWAY that says if it were possible even the elect would be decieved? This seems to say that thier will be very few true believers who actually follow the Messiah's ways. Even the 2 witnesses with the power to stop the rain as EliYah did will be hated and very few will believe. Thier is so much scripture to poder that what Ms.Harmony posted will be everywhere. Never said to stop.. but his sheep hear his voice. His sheep apperently is a small group. when it says having a form of Holiness and denying its power. How can souls who do not even but a few small phrases and a promice of eternal life really believe if they do not even know what the Evangel says? I see this in crusades all the time. How do you follow Yahshua and not do as he did? Was he our example or not? Yet almost all that he did is said is done away. The 2 witnesses it would seem is who really brings the true Evangel but the world hates thier message. So would that not infer that what is being preached to the world is not his Evangel? That they go against him maybe because what they hear is so foriegn to them they reject the 2 witnesses message? This is what I see over and over. Rev 7 speaks of a specific number. 144,000 thats a very small group who actually follow the message. the religions of the world reject this number because it does not fit thier winning of millions of souls. How many turn away as soon as the evangelists leave? I see what we have learned is a me me me way of life when thats the oppisite of the message, people who believe they are saved and that comforts them to where they become very subdued in this is all i need. The minister and going to church is all i need. most people if you ask who gave the Sermon on the mount can not tell you.. these are studies of chr-stians..
