Topic: Things I like about Texas | |

I like the fact that Texas is the only state that can fly it's flag the same height as the American flag. Actually, The US was given the right to fly their flag the same height as the the Texas flag. We were a nation. A few months after I moved here, I was thinking about this as I drove to work and saw the flags flying proudly...then I realized that it was now MY flag! Yep, "born again as a Texan!" You were born again as a Possum!! |

Texans have the tallest tales of any other state.

The last battle of the Civil War was fought on Texas soil. We don't give up easily.

If I remember my history correctly...we were still fighting several months after the war had been over.

|
The last battle of the American Civil War was the Battle of Palmito Ranch in Texas on May 12 and 13. Texas didn't surrender until August. That was 3 months after all the other Southern states surrendered.

I knew I learned something in high school I could use later in life
Also it amazes me in my talking with other people from different states, how little they know about their state history. |

I always just thought it was something everyone had to learn.
I guess we are born with it. |

I'm a Texas history buff. I just have it in my blood.
Vivian is another one that knows Texas history very well. (No Joe. It doesn't mean I read Texas history while in the buff) |

Darn right. My Texas history teacher in school flunked me. He didn't like me correcting him in front of the class.
