They Said...

I read your lines
while the aroma of
tomatoes and onions
permeated
my hands, leaving it's stain
where I dog eared the page.
Coffee grounds swirled
in the last swish
as I swallowed,
cold and tempered
by her room.

I missed that big
round wooden world
that had become my time
in that brief moment.
Oh, Golden Gardens was calling,
the steps down to the sand
waiting to claim another victory...

In Oklahoma the earth
is red clay sod
swirling in an open sky
finding its way
to those catches of thought
viewed through
droplets on a cold window,
a swirling open sky
blowing the trees away.
