I think that question is as old as time itself and it pertains to both genders

I think maturity and what they been able to get away with in the past plays a role in that

put your foot down and don't put up with it - if he really wants you & cares he will listen to how you feel and be concerned about that

if not that person simply is immature, prolly shallow and definitely not worth wasting time on, and yes, it is very disappointing

I also find this happens if she/he finds someone else - they "misbehave" hoping you will break up so they can be free to move on - had this happen to me once or twice - it's maturity again, or the lack of - a bad way to handle things, where honesty would do nicely

Because in general; people are selfish and generally nasty. They are only out there to please themselves and don't care who they hurt along the way. I am sorry you had to go through that but I honestly believe what goes around comes around. Just don't let them get to you and stay strong.
